  • I’m having weird germination issues. This spring I bought seeds from Northatlantic seed co. I bought 5- Purpz ( HSC ). I had 5-orange cream pops purchased from HSC, and 5-Barney’s farm cherry poppers. I’m using 1/2 gallon pots with recycled soil amended with parboiled ricehulls happy frog light warrior worm castings azomite gypsum and Epsom. The core 2”x3” , to plant the seeds at 1/2” deep of just light warrior. No compaction, wetted to 5% , in the center planting core only exerted pressure to eliminate air pockets. I gave it 5 pumps of my 6.5 ph well water. l then covered 1/4 inch worm castings and three additional pumps of water. I had
soaked the seeds put a for 14 hours in which most seeds popped open . I planted the seeds , covered with a clear 18 oz solo cup with two pin holes in the top, I have a dedicated seedling tent with a XS1500 Pro Vipar LED. Three days later every seed had germinated except 60% of the the Purpz. NASeed reimbursed me. I then ordered 3- new Purpz, and 3- vanilla frosting from Humboldt seed co. I got three free x- bbc-vanilla frosting. I soaked one of each in a shot glass for 18 hours and planted in the exact same setup. After three days Purpz and bbc x vanilla Germinated: 10 days in the soil the Vanilla frosting did not germinate. I thought no problem I have three more seeds so I repeated this same technique with one shot glass and after 20 hours no seed cracked. I switched to paper towel method. And two days into paper towel and nothing.

has anyone had specific issues with vanilla frosting? Are they needing something different to germinate?
