Usually you'll definitely be seeing stretching by week 2, and the stretch starts slowing down by the end of week 3 or so. Some plants don't stretch as much as other ones. We had an 818 Headband once that only stretched 1/3 of its height, so it might be genetics.
And just to double check, are you sure the plant is flowering? By two weeks your buds should have clusters of white pistils at the ends of the colas (I like to call them "budlets"). Just to give you an idea of what buds might look like, this plant has just finished the 2nd week after the switch from 12/12.
If you are only seeing a few pistils at the joints it could mean the plant isn't actually flowering. Those pistil will appear as soon as a plant is 5-6 weeks old from seed, even in the vegetative stage. If you're not getting budlets forming yet, you want to triple check it's getting complete darkness during it's 12 hour dark period, because even a little light leak could prevent your plant from starting to flower.
All that being said, I know some AK-48 plants tend to stay short in general!

I fixed two small leaks today and have placed a blanket over door to grow box. I also have dark period set to match night but dusk and dawn do fall in dark period. I also need to check for indicator lights you mentioned earlier. I don't think there are any inside box but never thought to check. I can't take photo of "budlets" now as it is in dark period. I will take close up tomorrow but here is one of plant taken earlier today. My last grow was also AK-48, same seeds, same supplier, and it more than doubled during flower. I have also wondered how stable, and consistent newer stains are as Niverna mentions different phenos for their AK-48.

I think they look like they're on track! Your plant is definitely flowering. It's possible that the genetics of this plant just don't stretch as much. Keep us posted, looking real green and healthy though!

Maybe my definition of stretching is wrong, since I'm such a noob. My thought is or was that stretching happened prior to and during the formation of those budlets.
After that, the growth is just the buds getting bigger.

That's an interesting grow setup. What type of lights are those? Looks like fluorescent?

You got it. Once you switch to 12/12, after a few days most strains start growing in a "stretchy" way.
Four days after the switch to 12/12
A week later you can see all the colas have stretched quite a bit
All the colas shoot up vegetatively during those first few weeks. The tops of the stems start looking like stars from above and pistils start appearing in the middle of the stars. Here's a plant at the end of week 2 again just for reference.
By week 2 you're seeing budlets, and the plant continues stretching fast up until week 3 or so, but it continues growing new stems and leaves until the plant is about 6 weeks from 12/12. During that time your buds will be forming, but after about week 6 your plant stops growing vegetatively altogether. It may look like nothing is happening for the next few weeks, but the buds are fattening every day until harvest!
That being said, some plants just don't stretch very much, while some can triple in height. It has a lot to do with genetics. In the following case one plant didn't really grow much at all, while the other stretched a lot!

I was gonna say.... It looks like a phototron offshoot. All you need is a turn table!
After the flip to 12/12, we have experienced the stretch beginning around Day 8 of flower and tapering off around Day 22 and then it slows down and focuses on making buds after that. Expect your lady to double or triple in size from when you make the 18/6 to 12/12 flip. Make sure you figure in the height at the top of your pots/buckets because those extra inches do matter.
Second grow of this strain. Last grow did double in height and I made tweaks in grow box for strech this time as buds got into lights last grow. I didn't keep detail notes on last grow and just don't remember strech progression but this lady doesn't look like she is going to stretch as much. We shall see...

I grew a few generations of AK48, all from one seed, and while my plants were always bushy and good growers I didn't experience a huge stretch in height in early flowering. In general I found AK48 to be very bushy for a sativa dominant.
How many weeks do you flower your AK? 9-10 weeks was my sweet spot.
