SOIL Broken Seedling

I started 2 plants to fill my 4x4. I broke one of the starting leaves on my blue moon rocks. I want to make sure I have 2 plants to fill the tent, will the seedling be fine or should I germinate another seed?

If it were me I'd give it a day or so to watch for new growth, then decide because the cotyledon leaves look healthy and the stem looks strong. At that stage anything is possible. The story of how those tiny little leaves became 'broke' may be interesting, if you care to share. :smile: If you germinate another seed there'll be a bit of a lag with the other plants in the tent. Not a big deal but something to consider.

im embarrassed but I took the shell off too early and ripped it. they're photos so im not too worried about the lag.

Don't be embarrassed. Stuff happens. If you can recover, that's the thing. With photos you def have time. I'm hoping that sprout recovers.

I have two photo's growing in the 4x4 and one of them started about a week after the first one because the first seed stopped growing. It's now the most well developed plant of the two.

Let it grow out a few days. If the little sprouts of the first true leaves show up, I would let it develop.
I find these "troubled" seedlings are quite resilient to abuse as long as the roots and growing tip are not disturbed.

I used to let them go and see what happens but I have found that those plants that do survive are often very stunted or deformed.

thanks for the info. I might go just grow through with it as a learning process if it survives. not looking much better today tho.

i see the true leaves poking out from the stem but they haven't developed at all since it opened up.

Hi Mickey, the next time a seedling appears with a "Helmet head", use an eyedropper to give it a couple of drops of water. That usually softens it so it will fall off. It's the embryo that is a bitch to get off..

Thx for the advice. I saw your other comment as well. Did a lil surgery and got the seedling back on track. The seedling was fused for 1/2in or about a cm keeping the true leaves in so I opened that seam up.
