New year, New Projects, New New

Growing my sativas outdoors with a dry in the garage I'd hang the entire plant upside down. I never wet trimmed. 3 weeks drying was often needed, sometimes much more, sometimes a fraction less.

First dry indoors in the room and I did everything a bit different as I was worried about mould. I over did it.

The current thinking from the academic experts is 7 days is the perfect dry time based on terps retention but I am not sure about that. I think it depends on a few things but I found with these the slower the better to a point.

Man I'm a goober. I'm wondering why the cheese hasn't popped yet..... Maybe because it's in the jar still. Good thing I had a second seed. 1in thick glasses and I still can't see shit 🤓. It's okay though. I'm not rushing. All the other seeds popped with no problem. I'm even going to take pictures and make some time lapse.

Hopefully this experiment will finally give me my answer. Coco or peat. I have 2 that will be in Coco and 3 in peat. We'll see how it all goes. Fingers crossed they all work out well and I can just grow stress free. Just like this last grow....easy peasy

LOL that's funny. I think peat compacts too much doesn't do a thing for growing but i get your experiment. And no perilite in any cups huh? Good luck to you i'll be watching this one.

There's perlite ... I just haven't top watered so it all coated in mud. I mix, wet and then fill the cups then shove the seed in with a sharpie butt. You'll see the perlite next picture. I always do 50/50 with peat. I'm all to familiar with the oxygen exchange needs with wet dry cycles. That's why I'm curious about the Coco. If I could do my organic growing with the coco as the base then I'll switch to the coco. They def seem to grow bigger, faster and finish sooner in the Coco compared to the peat. I'm just tired of throwing myself all these curved balls and experiments I just want some good weed.

I've just invested 3 years into peat. Though Coco might be better but you saw what happened with the purple punch 2 grows ago. Ran into that cal mag issue...hard. with peat acidity was my issue but that got solved with the Ag lime, gypsum and dolomite. Proof is in the pudding. If I hadn't been so rusty with my scrogging then I could have definitely gotten better results like I did with the CBD. But I kept snapping twigs and branches and main colas.... Just rusty thanks to all the autos. Even so it was a water only grow with only 2 compost teas for a boost.

I'm trying my best. I tried the Coots Soil recipe and had some of the best results to date. It helped me understand that I need more calcium. If this next grow goes without a hitch like this last one, then I can confidently say I got it all dialed in. They always grew well until the calcium deficiency started showing mid bloom and then it went to shit ... Which took my pH with it. This last grow was my first grow that had a nice fade and green all the way through bloom.

ROFL..... still in the jar. Love it.

I should have left mine in the har longer. They're safer there from me

Bluey Normally I'm not a very superstitious person but I feel like in this instance, the universe might be trying to tell me something. I didn't notice the seed in the jar and now it's been 3 days and the soil isn't even disturbed? The other seed popped open after only 12 hours of soaking, this one got soaked and it's been 3 days and nothing. I think the universe might be saying 3 plants in a 2x4 might be over ambitious. Might run into space issues or poor air circulation. Maybe I should only do 4 at a time. 🤔 Or maybe I'm just high🤔

If the plants were Mandarin and UG sized, I could fit another in there. Like when I had the blue dream in there ripening up. But if the plants are going to be like the CBD White widow then I probably should only do 2.

Oooo I also got these brackets that fit a PVC or wooden dowel. Now I can have a nice taunt net and the tube can act as a high CFM bar too because least be honest those bars are overpriced. A whole tent is $70 but 4 brackets are $40 ?? Over half the price of a tent?? Huge rip off. It's like the whole printer/printer ink scheme or razors and new cartridges.

Thanks dirtymike I think I got them on Amazon. It came with 3inch pots, bases, domes and plastic tags for identification. I use everything but the actual pots. The domes are great as well as the plastic id tags but the 3 inch high pots are so small. Not terrible for photos but terrible for autos. That Taproot hits the bottom after 5 days and it's stunted. That's why I opted to using the yogurt containers. I know I have exactly 7 to 10 days after the seed pops to transplant to avoid any kind of shock or stunting.

Cheese-Louise.... The cheese didn't make it. The first seed would have worked if my goober ass planted it.... The second seed didn't have an embryo after 5 days I decided to take a peek. I'm just going to accept it and just go with 4. It just wasn't meant to be but the 4 i do have growing are looking super healthy and growing strong. That's how I'm gonna keep them.

I see the deficiencies on the GSC but man she's on day 90.... She should have been done 20 days ago........ Never getting seeds from ILGM. You never know when it's going to be ready. She didn't even start flowering until day 40. Who knows when she'll be ready

As far as my cups go, I'll be retiring them. They make a nice rootball and no transplant shock for autos but it limits their overall growth and if the Taproot hits one of the edges of the cup and it stunts it. Starts to prematurely flower as well. Fun experiment. Learned a lot from it, got some interesting root balls to feed my worms with. I wonder how long before they eat everything. Another fun experiment.

I'm transplanting everything on the 7th. The stuff in the tents will be coming down on the 7th after 10 days dry. ..... Unless it needs longer but so far they're perfect. You can see the humidity dips below 62 so the inline doesn't kick on. The buds are looking good and drying nice and slow. I hope my next grow is this smooth 🙏🙏🙏

Day 8... Looking great! The humidity has fallen below 62 in the tent so I open it daily to let out some of that grassy smell. Still a lot of soft branches. The leaves are crispy but the buds are still soft. The ones closest to the zipper I have gotten a little crispy but everything else is perfectly fine. The Mandarin has so much purple it looks so beautiful...😍.

Just by looking at the seedlings, you can tell that the pineapple is probably going to be a beast. She's outgrowing an auto and she's a day behind. The stem might not be able to hold her up if she keeps growing this fast. All the seedlings are looking great! Healthy, happy, growing! Only 2 more days until transplant .... At least for the Tangie. The photos can wait a few more days.

Super excited about the pineapple and the MAC. I haven't had those cultivars in ages. Especially pineapple Express. When the movie came out everybody had some then all of a sudden everybody got tired of it and it just like disappeared. They only have vape pens half gram for $80 at my dispensary which is too rich for my blood. I'll grow my own thanks.

Just 3 more months and I'll have my own castings too. I'm gonna give the worms some food today and I'm gonna give them the root balls to mess with. It's like a worm jungle gym. They can crawl on top of it crawl under it they could build a fort in there. They could have all sorts of fun with it while breaking out down. Those castings are starting to look like castings. Not only that but there's all of this microbiology there. I see springtails, I see predator mites and that's about all I can see with these poor eyes but when I get my microscope, I'll be able to see a lot more. Already I could see the quality of these castings as far superior than anything I've ever purchased at any store except for build a soil. They actually have fairly good castings. The plants that grew in those vs the Amazon purchased ones and the soil health was much better overall

This year I decided to start a blog about smoking and growing weed. I found many images for my blog on depositphotos. There are hundreds of pictures on different themes like phuket images. Stock photos can save me a significant amount of time compared to organizing and conducting a photoshoot. They allow me to find the right image for your project quickly. I use them all the time.

Woohoo what a day!!! I got so much done. 11 days of drying and it was time to trim up and bag up. I did the Mandarin and the UG by hand because there was a lot of popcorn sized buds. I didn't want them to become salad in the bowl trimmer. The CBD on the other hand has big golf ball sized buds so I just did her in the trimmer.

So here are the numbers
Mandarin Zkittlez 75g after trim 2.6oz
End Game x Grandpa Stash aka UG 75g 2.6oz
White widow CBD 144g after trim. 5.3oz 😱
For a total of 10.5oz of buds. Not to mention I still have the GSC that should be done in a week. I'll probably be short an oz or 2 from a whole pound off of 4 plants. Not too shabby!! 🙏👍🪴

I also transplanted all the seedlings to their final home. The transplanting could have went better than it did. All but 1 fell apart when I tried putting them in the hole. They held up after taking the cup off but fell apart on the flip. I'm expecting some kind of transplant stress for sure. I'll be surprised if they don't show any stress. (I did add some myco and azos into the hole... Maybe it's enough and it's also why I tried using those custom basket cups with some success)...... But what's done is done. Today is 9 days since the seeds popped. I probably could have waited a few more days for the photos but I really wanted to get that auto transplanted so I just did all of them.

2 pots will have a cover crop and 2 will not. The one without will have one of those fabric hairnets covering the top to prevent fungus gnats from getting in. I'm to the point where there's only a few gnats but if I get lazy now, then I'll just have to deal with another outbreak. Everything was good until like 2 weeks before I had to chop and I got a small wave. I put some BTI in the water and sprayed the topsoil with neem oil and rosemary/peppermint oil; alternating between the 2 so they don't build up a resistance. All this trouble from some crappy castings from Amazon. Now I make own castings and if I need any them I get them from build a soil.

When the GSC is finally done, I'm going to take the soil from that Earth Box and from the other, mix them both together and let them sit for 2 weeks. Then I'm going to get one of those soil tests from Amazon. I think it was called MySoil for $30. They had others for $35 to $50. I'm going to test it, see what's going on, add only what I need to add and it'll be ready for the next grow. Spending 30 on a test is much cheaper than buying new peat/Coco, new perlite/pumice, new castings, new amendments everything new. When in reality I might just need a few tablespoons of calcium maybe some nitrogen. I want to be as low cost as I can and I want to recycle. It totally works if done right.

I have the MAC and Pineapple Express in the Coots Soil recipe that's been brewing since NOVEMBER 8TH😱😱. Talk about some rich, black looking and amazing smelling soil 🥰. The Tangie got the NLS Coco/perlite/castings plus extra calcium and magnesium. The Blue Dream is in Peat/ Fox farm Happy frog/perlite/castings mix with Gaia Green amendments. I got these for free when my friend decided to give up on trying to grow his own so I wanted to give it a try since so many people swear by it. I figured the blue dream is a good choice because she does well in all kinds of soils. And she's a hardy cultivar. I just followed the instructions on the container 3Tbsp per gallon of soil of the all purpose and the power bloom. I also added the Gaia green basalt rock dust and Glacial Rock Dust 1Tbsp per gallon of soil. Yeah he got the whole Gaia Green amendments package. 🤷‍♂️ Win for me! I like the Rock Dust better than I like the coarse rock from build a soil.

12 hours later and they're looking good. Maybe I got lucky and no transplant shock.... I'll only be able to tell after watching the time lapse but they all look good!

So this grow is all autos or photos? Man your going perpetual grows now i dig it. I love soil building. I used up my tote for my 4 growing in the tent now. It was newly made few months ago. 3 of my plants are looking good but may of been too hot for the white widow x purple kush cross. It's really stunted but growing, leaf looks bad on her. Gave her a big drink of mixed water + epsom salts today. Good luck this run :)
