    getting ready to grow

Ok, so I have been reading and lurking around the site and forum now for a few months. I bought a superstar cabinet from super closet and have someone else taking care of it. Now I am thinking about doing my own little grow set up. This is what I am thinking about getting. Would appreciate some feedback and pointers.

Not sure what type of lighting I am going to use yet. Pretty sure I will buy a LED light for it. Plan on only growing one plant at a time so it will be easier for me to keep up with. Of course I will be buying the general hydroponics nutrients for the plants. I know I will need a pH meter, temp/humidity gauge, and a little fan inside the tent. Any thing else I am missing?

Does anyone know if a 3.5 gallon bucket is big enough for one plant to grow in?

Once I get all this together I will start a journal about my grow, and probably ask for more help.

Looking forward to it Bakedbear a 3.5 gallon is fine for autos and maybe for photos I grow in coco but a friend does dwc and he just had a problem his root balls filled up the containers they were in so he went to add nutes thinking there was 30 gallons in the system when there was only 20 gallons of water. his roots balls are massive . Im not sure of your tent, does it provide you with enough access, I know there are tent that are horizontally long but only 2 or 3 feet tall if you place it on a raised structure would it give you easier access than one put on the floor? You should be fine with everything good luck

Thanks for the advice. The tent is 35"L x 24"W x 53"H. It has a way that you can make the tent into two sections a smaller section for seedlings or clones. I am thinking about using the smaller section to dry in while I continue to grow in the bigger part. I am thinking about putting the tent on a little raised platform as well. Like you said to make it easier on me to get access to the plants.

Welcome and wishing you the best luck with your first grow. How warm is it where you are putting the tent? Is there access to vent to outdoors? (How hot the tent gets may impact which light you want to use. LED is usually less hot than HPS/MH lights. ) A 3.5 gal bucket is not bad but it may limit how big your plant gets which can be a good thing in a tent. If you can fit a bigger bucket , though, you will get better yields. You just have to be careful to train your plant so it doesn't get too tall for the tent. (Or like oldjarhead said, an auto will be just fine in 3.5 gal and less hassle.)

I am putting the tent in a closet in my spare bedroom. I'm looking at venting it into the attic to keep the heat out of the room. So I think I will start with the 3.5 and use auto's just to see how things go.
