    Opinion on proposed tent size.

    Morning all.

I am planning on doing my shopping on the 3rd of this month, but as usual I am having second thoughts on the size of grow tent. I was thinking of a 32x32x60 then I read Nebula's article on manifolding. Looking at the spread of the plants I am concerned about space when they are trained. I'm only planning on bringing 3 to flower at any one time. I plan on growing 2 Black Jack and 1 'mystery' plant from Nirvana.

    My plan is:

    Tent
    5 gallon fabric pots
    Coco coir
2 300 watt Mars Hydro LED lamps
    Calimagic and Flora brand mutes
    Miscellaneous tools etc.

Do you think I will have enough space to manifold 3 plant in that space? Long term this tent will be my propagation tent as I plan on continual harvest.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It's not how crazy I am, but how much I enjoy it that makes me dangerous.

Coco/Perlite 60/40, GH Nutrients and Calimagic, 5 Gal Fabric pots
    Germination lights 2 30watt LEDS
Veg and Flowering 1 600 Watt GalaxyHydro LED

Completed Grows. 1 Photoperiod and 2 Autos

Current Grows: 1 mystery Auto 71 days, 1 White Widow Auto 62 days, 1 Amnesia Auto 62 days

I think 3 would fit in a triangle shape arrangement. Are you really sure you want to throw the mystery seed in there? I only say this because Nirvana mystery seeds are not sexed. The last thing you want is a boy in with your two girls. Just something to think about.

I plan on starting at least 5 seeds and not moving any to the tent until I have sexed them.

I have a 60" tent and i wish i had gone with something taller. With the LEDs in there and having to keep them18" from the top of the plants,, its going to be hard to grow anything taller than 3'. You might want to consider a 6-7' tent.

When you start training them, you need a big tent, 4x4x80 at least! I have one and its full to the max! My flowering tent is 4x8x80 and I wish it was taller but I don't have the ceiling for it! So I have to keep stuff a bit shorter!

Yes, train to keep plants short. Height always seem to be the problem more so than the max. sq ft floor space.

Although, our tent was 80 inches high and we never ran into a height problem. Had lights suspended about ten inches down toward the end and there was still 15" clearance between light and top of plant.

Even grow for every grower is different. Its hard to make decisions. IF you can afford it, I'd go for the bigger tent now. Only you can decide.

I would go as big as budget and space will allow. It's better to have too much space than too little and you will add more gadgets as time goes by.
                      DIY grow space 2.5' X 3.5' X 6.5'
                      315 LEC
6" Vortex exhaust fan w/speed control
                      6" Carbon filter
                      3- 6" fans
                      humidifier
                      temp and humidity gauge
5 gal smart pots w/ FFOF soil
                      FF trio nutrients

While I have more than enough space budget does not allow a much bigger tent. If things go right I will buy my flowering tent in January.

Sounds like a plan! I built my grow box out of plywood and quickly outgrew the size. Like Insomniaczzz said, it is nice to have enough room to access all sides of your plants and have enough room for additional equipment if the need arises.

Never mind the queen..I am changing my name to hard way and going back to the drawing board after seeing today's input! Wow!
                      i had a 3x3, then 5x5 , now a 5x9 ( ps I have worked hard for this tent).
i don't even know if Gorilla makes 5x5s now but that was a good choice.
                      ..here comes a friggin yarn:
the bigger the tent the more i germinated, took to veg, put in tent, had to destroy some very viable plants since I tend to 8-10 weeks veg. But one of my most successful yields was with 1 white Widow because I did not plan well..at all in the 5x5.
To counter our/ my beloved Green..I have been thinking of doing less plants in the 5x9 so I could get big honking collas like Green & Royal I have 8 in 5 gal pots and it is crowded. Too crowded. Less plants- more opportunity I am thinking. Will see when this planting is said and done which will be Early December.
So..maybe 2 or 3 well tended plants to a 5x5...and currently recommend Platinum LEDs or 600-1000 HPS.
                      agree with PuravidaC totally
i would like to do fewer better...if the quality is also better

I think your grow setup is magnificent. I am still green with envy. You are too humble.

Thank you Tika, I have always subscribed to the less is more idea. I know I am a first-timer but, I have always been very good at following instructions lol. I hope with daily tending and the tutorials and you fine people to maximize my three plants. The Platinum LEDs will have to wait, they cost moremthan my whole initial setup lol.

We bought an Apollo Tent 48 x 96 x I think 80. We read many reviews before making our decision. Dollar for dollar many people recommended the Apollo brand as being almost as good as Gorilla and a good bit cheaper.

I concur on the opinions of those who suggest a taller tent. They should just stop making tents smaller than 6 ft lol. Biker, your setup for a total of 600w will be awesome as long as its no more than a 4x4. I run a 2x4 and 2 plants make it look pretty full. Can't wait to see how it comes along!
