    Blackstrap Molasses

I've been reading here and there on the web about the use of blackstrap molasses during bloom cycle to enhance taste. Does anyone here use this?

If so, when to start, how much, how often etc?

There's some debate on whether or not molasses changes the taste of the flowers.

The primary reason you would use molasses is because it's a microbial food source. All those symbiotic microbes help break down compounds the plant can't uptake into a usable form and delivers the nutrients to the rhizosphere (the region where the roots feed). Happy microbes means happy plants.

I have been using BSM for the last 3 years. 1/2 tbls. every other watering the last two weeks of flowering. I think it fattens up the buds and nourishes the roots but I haven't noticed any change in taste. I'm going to stop using it in one grow to see if it really makes a difference or it is just wishful thinking.

Black Strap Molasses is what everyone recommends. I believe that is unsulphered.

I picked up some Grandmas at the store this morning. They had 2 brands to choose from but the other didn't say unsulphered on the bottle.

I have been using blackstrap molasses for a couple of grows. What I have gathered is it helps with nutrients. Don't know about taste. I use 1 tablespoon per gallon every other water during flower. From what I researched, blackstrap is the third squeeze of the sugar cane, therefore has the most good stuff for plants. Unsulfared is a must. I get mine at the Co-Op. Grocery stores usually don't carry blackstrap molasses.
