    Doctor persimilis and mr mite

I'm not new to the mites problem, and I have read just about every guide you can find on the internet on this gruesome subject (the tutorial provided on this site sums up all the important stuff).
however, it's my 3rd grow with these unwanted guests and I still can't get rid of them...
the little bastards manage to make a come back every time, always at the start of the second half of flowering, thus making any drastic countermeasure risky and toxic (I don't want any chemicals or unwanted flavourings in my herb).

So I'm fighting them with biological warfare, by introducing into the grow tent Phitoseius Persimilis, a predatory mite specialised in spider mites. It's slow -it takes two weeks for the predator to adapt and start the genocide- but very effective at keeping them under control. I have tried several washes and infusions, but they all affect taste if applied on buds without flushing the plant adequately for at least 3 weeks. ( neem oil, pyrethrum, pepper or tobacco infusions etc). The pepper herb had some appreciation from a few of my friends who thought it was the strain's flavour 😂, but generally I highly recommend not to spray anything but water on the leaves during the last few weeks...

Nothing I have tried really eradicated them, but I became quite good at controlling them, especially at keeping them off my precious buds. Key is high humidity/ breezy colas/ and if they become persistent lower heat and bring light time to 10 hrs... that makes it almost impossible for them to reproduce and colonise.

And this is where I am now... 4 weeks left of flowering, lovely tangie and fighting Buddha colas growing, and those red two spotted little pests starting to build an army in the lower, darker canopy...And here I go again with persimilis, high humidity, breezy environment....
I'll finish this grow without taking any new countermeasures, but I will go heavy on them as soon as the room is empty. Azamax or similar products is what I will go for...
And here is my story, if any of you can give me any other tip I'm all ears

Do you have a veg/clone area they could be hiding over there... i would steralize the whole room after the grow and really get every inch of the room!

Inuart check the tutorial on this site to learn more about spider mites... it's one of those invasions that cannot be left undealt with.
Since they breath from pores in the skin, high humidity (60-70%) creates a stressing environment for them, because it obstructs those pores.
To prevent mold and fungus give the room good ventilation, it also disturbs the mites (and as I read on this site, favours bud growth).
They can be carried in the tent even by other insects, like flies...
I never 'bombed' the room between a crop and the next, damn sure I will this time!!
I'm pretty sure I brought them in... I was at my first experience with clones, and my over apprehension led to check to plants that one time too much.. I had been lumberjacckin all day waiting for the lights to go on, before rushing stupidly in the room without a cloths change... three weeks later the infestation began. I suppose they have been living as eggs between a crop and the other, hiding in some corner of the room...and I did clean the hell out of that room...

Sorry I didn't mean to criticise you, actually ty very much for advice, anything I haven't thought of can be useful!! I'm no expert either, just had to learn how to deal with them... and I'm only able to keep them at bay... barely...
I just had some unexpected advice from a friend. Unexpected because as far as I know he knows very little of gardening... he mentioned a stinging nettle infusion that his grandmother used to treat plants bug infestations with.. i have read about it on the net, but haven't tried it yet... does it work? Does it leave a trace or residue that would affect aroma or taste? And does it kill predatory mites too? Those would be my questions...

      Haha
that was me when I used jalapeño pepper spray!! But unless you're the biggest fan around of spicy 🌶 better keep that stuff off your buds... three weeks of pure water showering didn't eliminate all the capsaicin...
anyway, I'm making a stinging nettle macerate (but it takes up to two weeks) and have prepared a nettle infusion to apply directly on the affected leaves...
i should see the effects, if any, in a few days...

Wow, good luck--I hope stinging nettle does the trick! At least if there's any residual "flavor enhancement" it shouldn't be nearly as intrusive as the pepper spray was!
