    Last two weeks

I read/hear conflicting comments about harvesting too early because buds add weight and potency the last two weeks before harvest yet some like no amber trichomes while others prefer more couchlock. So do buds swell and get more THC just before harvest? I harvest by color of trichomes so my question is, when is this two week window?

Harvest when the trichs are cloudy to amber depending on the high you like. But put the plants in total darkness for two days before you harvest and the buds will really fatten up.

Really? I've not heard that before. I'm sure there is no harm for sure, so may try that next grow.

Its an old trick to make the plant think it's dying and needs to go all out. Or something like that.lol.

Get yourself a Jewelers Loop. That is the best way to tell. My personal favorite is 20% clear, 80% cloudy with just a little amber. I'm getting me some right now. LOL

I getting close to that point too but it is a good 4 to 5 weeks earlier than last grow of same strain and buds are not as fat. More buds, less fat...

I haven't seen more than 60% cloudy at one time. It's usually still 30% clear with increasing ambers. I guess it depends on sample size and what your definition of cloudy vs clear is. There are varying levels of opacity.

Took tasting sample from lower larfy bud a couple of days ago and man, I got some ass whipping herb going on! Better than last grow. Just don't want to get too anxious and miss any possible bulking up...

I think a majority of the bulk is complete by the end of week 6 for most hybrids.

Ive done the 48 hours of darkness before too, but I didn't get any increase in bulk, they seemed more ripe though. I prefer a diminishing light schedule during flush to accelerate finishing. It's probably all in my head...

It can't hurt and it might work better on some strains than others.

I don't think so. I don't do 48 hrs. But I'm a firm believer on the 36 hrs. dark before harvest. The only thing is. You have to have all plants ready for harvest. Otherwise you might have a hermie issue for the others. But I do believe it increases the little mushroom heads growing on my pot plant.

Buds keep getting bigger until harvest, so the longer you let your plants flower, the bigger the yields are in general. For example, long-flowering strains tend to get higher yields than short-flowering strains even if everything else is exactly the same I think that's why it's best to go by bud ripeness - that way you know you're getting the effects you want!
