    auto flower topping?

So I know you top at the nodes during vegetative growth on regular plants, but auto flowers are short and have a short vegeitive cycle so I'm just wondering how much do they benefit from topping? can you top auto flowers? How would you top an auto flower and if so when? I'm just worried I would mess up the bud if I top too late

I do not top auto flower plants. You may hear from others who do, but I do not recommend it.

what I have learned so far:
    environment maters more than nutrients
at least a dab of nutrients in every watering
effective flushing before harvest is critical to quality

it's going to be an outdoor grow, how much do you yield? I live in the south and where I live it's great weather and good sun, and good temp

Yield about 2.5 oz. indoors without topping. First grows.

Fockshot says it best right here. I totally agree.

Autos have like an alarm clock set and ready to go start making buds after its veg has gotten to a certain point so if it's not an real vigorous grower you could loose out by topping it.so I agree with flockshot.

how much would I yield with out topping? it says up to 150 grams outdoors but is that with proper ways to get as most bud as possible?

I can't compare topped and un-topped results because I never did top autos. Any "up to" amount of yield you read from a seed breeder, means that under perfect conditions, a really good grower might get this much. It's called the 'genetic potential' of the plant, but not a realistic expectation for inexperienced growers. Personally, if I were growing outdoors and wanted more yield, I would just put in more plants.

I can't speak for another but personally with autos I usually get about fifty to seventy without topping but I mostly grow pH with an auto with each harvest thrown in the mix just because I like watching them grow.

Each to their own, but I'd like to drop a friendly vote for topping autos
I always topped photos when I was growing them inside so I was used to the technique and when I started growing autos I just did the same thing but on a tighter schedule. I think indoors with overhead lights, it's all about an even canopy, and breaking the apical dominance of that central stem really helps that.

Outdoors I think it's perhaps less beneficial as the light is better spread but I still prefer a bushier plant to a Christmas tree shape.

Yield will depend on pot size, grow method/medium, hours of light, and strain as well as plant training. I'm of the opinion that training an auto will increase yields if all other factors are equal, but I couldn't say whether topping is better than fimming or just lst.

Outdoors you probably don't need to worry about any plant training at all if you don't want to -- as long as you control bugs and mold you'll likely get a good haul.
        These plants want to grow

I don`t top...I use LST mainly due to the limited time frame of veggie growth
