Im having some trouble with my grow. I got a cheap pH tester and I dont think it was working properly. I was giving my plants water from a dehumidifier and the pH tester was marking 6.5 and 7 but I read online that its 8 to 9. Maybe that would explain the burnt leaf tips that I am seeing now? I didnt over water or give too much nutrients and the leaves at the top are not showing signs of burnt ends like the ones below. Any idea how I can fix this? This is my first grow

Yeah. The general Hydroponics kit is great. I had cheap tester and it worked for a short time and then jumped all over in readings. It come with no instructions either. Go with the GH kit and make sure your water is 6.0 to 6.5 and make sure you read all the tutorials on GWE. That is the best source of info. Don't worry. It will probably grow out fine. Good Luck.

No calcium in your dehuy water. And cheap pH testers aren't worth the plastic they are made of. Get a good one, study on how to calibrate and how to maintain so it last as they all sooner or later need a new bulb.

I agree on the cheap PH meters- having gone through the same thing. 3 berries is very right in that there is no calcium or other components such as magnesium in it. I hesitated but will offer some info based on science that somehow I expect others to argue. the condensate water from a dehumidifier is distilled and quite corrosive so it absorbs many chemicals and metals and even stuff in the atmosphere like crazy. for example, if left in open air, even the CO2 from the air will lead to the PH dropping (CO2 leads to carbonic acid) in distilled water. I know people do it, but it can easily lead to issues depending on the plants watered and the soils you use. the distilled water can test at one ph and as soon as it gets in with whatever medium, in this case soil, it will effectively drop significantly as things are basically disolved to end up in the water. distilled water is actually quite corrosive and not buffered by "stuff" normally in water so it can change quickly and aggressively. i dont know what the metal from the coil (usually aluminum) will do to cannabis but pretty much guaranteed it will be there. as a side example of it's affect -when used in an aquarium, adding PH 8 distilled water actually can drop the ph of the aquarium by 2 or 3 easily depending on how much of it is added compared to the total volume of the tank.

I went to rain water vs my hard well water two years ago and tents and new LEDs. Had a terrible time but what was really the problem was I was giving it no calcium where it was getting it from the hard well water, though not enough as it turns out. Yellowing of the new growth has always been a problem.

But this year I started using the Calcium Chloride in a 1200 ppm mix and top dressing whenever the yellow tips showed up on the new leaves. In the past I always thought that was nute burn and would reduce the nutes and it slowly kept getting worse. I also started using langbeinite in the soil as part of the mix and that provides ample KSO4 and MgSO4 in a natural slow release water soluble form.

I also have very high CO2 levels in the winter. So it was all working against me. But now I'm doing daily 3/4 top dressings with the liquid mix and they are going to town. Two into flower now and one with the white hairs. If the new tips don't yellow I'll cut back on the Ca. But basically that's the sign I'm watching.

The LEDs too close now is canoeing the upper leaves but no bleaching. And you can't use KOH with the CaCl2 or it just falls out as CaOH lime. So back to Potassium Bicarbonate.

Has anyone had trouble with ilgm my seeds didn’t germinate they were very nice and sent another batch of twenty seeds so out of forty seeds I got 3 the first time and 2 the second time wonder if it’s me or purple kush

Never had a problem from ILGM. Their CS is excellent.

I haven't yet. 100% germination rate even on three year old seeds. Just order another 10.

I have had 6 out of 7 pop from ILGM but the strain I ran (Super Skunk) has no Skunk 👃 at all. It has a nice sweet smell and is good but not what I was looking for.

Not meaning to go off topic but does anyone know which seed bank has the real skunk with smell included 😂. Not bashing ILGM bit where is the skunky skunk?

I have two plants about a foot tall. The new growth has white on the tips of new leaves. I do not have mealy bugs. What would cause this? I use good water and banana fertilizer. Thanks for the info.

Everything I can find says "the canopy" and the "to much light" pictures shows fan leaves. Still leaves me wondering whether the primary apical cola can withstand greater light.

Soil reuse is my question at the moment. For six years I’ve reused old Miracle Grow and added more of it or some Fox Farm to have enough. A hobby grower, I mostly use a 4 X 4 X 6 grow room and 7 gallon fabric pots. My question is, should I chuck all my old soil and start with fresh?

I do reuse my soil if they are indoor plants and add add'l fresh ingredients but i've only used it 2x after that it goes in the garden beds. If your plants don't have issues with it i guess it's OK? Never bring that outdoor soil back inside though FYI one and done with that into the garden beds.

Always wondered about this myself. I have gone three grows max with the same soil. My logic is if hydroponic growers can use NO soil at all, what's the difference. As long as you provide the proper nutrients and amend it after every use, why not? At that point it's just a substrate for the plant to put roots into.

I'm now on my fourth grow with the same soil but I did add a bit of new bag to make up for lost volume. They seem to be doing fine

I have crispy edges on the top new growth on this grow. I was reading calcium deficiency? I have been staying away from adding much of any nutes during flower. Much flushing has been done.

Hi there! The only reason I see is a faster turnover for yield, inventory. Or for space reasons. I'm not a fan of autos, photoperiods are more forgiving and predictable, in my opinion.

I will tell you why I am growing auto. I bought this kit with a 4x4x8 tent and thought for my maiden grow I would do what was easiest. I don't care too much about the quality just the learning experience. My next grow will be one plant or 2 plants, with 2 more a week later where I will try different things suggestions and techniques and a hydro. I'm working with 4 GSC and an unidentified dispensary seed.
