A few questions, And thanks for this its very helpful.
When people say 6-10 ounces a grow is that per plant? Your set up for example? Im about to start my first grow and if 6-10 ounces total grow is all i can expect id rather not grow.
Im pretty lucky to have a basement cool and 10 foot cielings.
2 Platinum p900 lights
8x8 gorilla tent
Kind Soil
Fox Farm soil
6 10 gallon Root Trapper 2
2 vortex 8 inch fans
Would it be beneficial to put lights on side of room during jlower?Last edited by Xcardplayer; 06-30-2017, 09:07 PM. Reason: Thanks MArley, i meant flower :) Do people do it?

I personally use an HPS overhead and LEDs on the side. Seems to work well developing the lower buds.

Outdoors, the sunlight has already traveled about 93,000,000 miles and going another few feet from the top of a plant down to the bottom doesn't matter. Indoor lights are only a foot or so from the top of your plant, and on that scale there isn't much intensity left by the time it reaches the bottom leaves. Providing light from multiple directions can support extra growth lower down on the plant.

Your lucky as far as the size of the tent and the height of the basement.Do you have the height extension For the tent ? As for a yield it depends on many things ,especially the strain, light intensity,Growers knowledge etc.this being your first grow it will be hard to max it out one your first attempt, Also I read the specs on your lights .It says each one covers an area of 6x4 but manufacturers inflate those numbers a lot. For a 8x8 ——-4 of those lights would probably be perfect I don’t know how much you we’re planning on spending on supplemental lighting There’s several used ones on ebay right now for 655 or best offer with 3 year warranty remaining..if your using 10 gallon containers and manifolding each plant, i don’t think you would need the side lighting .inside I think you could hit two to four pounds.
If it was me and these are just my thoughts,With your exact conditions To reduce labor and there is labor. I would just do 2 or 4 huge Fabric containers with a Subcool super soil mix With a tray under it to catch the excess water, When watering stop as soon as you see water going into the tray, leaving standing water would just invite problems.smart pots makes a 50 and 100 gallon raised bed which are not 2 tall and bend the plants putting the containers on opposite ends of the tent in spots with easy place to water, by manifolding or bending you could easily keep the height down And the plants would produce all tops, I will break it down like this also if the tent height is 7’ 11” at the top of the tent figure you lose about foot as you need a little room above the light for the exhaust fans, even though they say there cool running they still produce heat. Then you need 18” from light to top of canopy so 7’ 11” tent minus 30” leaves approx. 5 feet 6” then subtract another 12” to 18” for the height of the plant container leaves you with 4 to 4 and a half feet of actual plant space. having the same strains so there similar in height to keep the canopy even would help a lot.

My biggest question is i have a 600w MH light running at 250w inside a 6in cool tube do i measure my 12in distance from my canopy from the glass on my cool tube or do i use my bes guess to get the distance from the light?DWC/hydroton clay pellets600w digital/dimmable ballast,
250w MH veg,400w HPS flowering, floratrio nute schedule ,48*32*60 grow tent,
current grow: feminized blue wizard

I have a question(compound question)
ok so if I wanted to start developing my own strain
should I start with a base strain(naturally accrued), or pick one that was man made.. should I cross breed(cross existing strains) or breed for trait( breed with plants of its own strain but towards increasing the goal trait) also would there be a set criteria for it to be officially a new strain?

Here's what's going: 32x32x63 tent; ViparSpectra PAR450 LED; Bag Seed!; Left is in Coco, using FF Nutes and CalMag; Right is in Kind Soil. Temp averages 77F, 73F at night. I've been defoliating left plant, most recently yesterday. I have to switch to flowering now as I'm running out of room. I will do some LST today, on the left plant, to level off the bud sites. I've deliberately not done anything to the plant on the right other than top x 1. Both seeds were germinated beginning 9/1/17. Day 36. I started feeding nutes late, about two weeks ago and my pH wasn't right. It's been right for about a week.
I'm using this set-up with bag seed to "practice" while waiting for my seeds to show up. Despite my ineptitude, everything seems to be okay and I'm looking forward to any harvest with smoke-able bud.
Here's my question: According to FF's Hydro Feeding Schedule, I should be at week 6 but, am only at week 2 - looking to flush this week and resume nutes next week - should I go to week 3 or, skip to week 5 since I've started my 12/12 schedule today? Based on the pic, and my set up above, any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance for all the feedback!1 Photo3x3x5 Cheapo Tent; Viparspectra PAR450w LED; Hydrofarm DWC Bubbler; 4-in fan and carbon filter; 6-in fan; 4-in fan.

Yes, you'd want to skip to the "transition" part of the schedule after you switch to 12/12. The stage of life has a much bigger impact on the plant's nutrition needs than the specific week.

I'm not sure what your nutrient schedule looks like. Typically they have 3-4 weeks of "Vegetative" then 2 weeks of "Transition to Flowering Stage" then it switches to "Bloom" for the flowering stage. I was saying that when you start 12/12, to go to the Transition to Flowering part of the schedule. It's more important to match the stage of life than the particular week. For example, if you had a plant in the vegetative stage for a long time, you would keep repeating the week right before Transition until the plant was big enough for 12/12.

So in finishing this crop, most hairs are brown and a few trichs are Amber, I've heard changing my light cycle from 12/12 to 10/14 and later to 8/16 will speed them up and make them more plump and sticky- any truth to that?

It won't make buds more plump (in fact they may be slightly less plump because you're reducing the number of hours of light they get and light = food for your buds), but it will cause them to mature faster, because the short days make the plant "think" winter is coming. It can be really helpful if you've got a strain that just doesn't seem to want to finish. A little more on that here if you're interested: http://www.growweedeasy.com/why-buds...-mature-faster
