My train wreck experience...Learn Noobs from my mistakes.....

Ok, let me start by saying I'm not afraid to admit I failed. Because I leaned from it. I'm sharing to prevent others from doing the same. Here we go....

Had 4 Godfather OG's and 4 Blackberry Kush seeds started in paper towels. All 4 Godfathers failed. NO tap root exect on one and it stunted after 48 hours. All 8 failed. Started 6 Blackberry Kush seeds again. 4 germinated. 4th one took twice as long as the other 3. Milked them, babied them, transferred them to composted soil. 3 parts compost, 1 part coco, 1 part vemerculite. Been a month.....Well...

Today I cut down 4 plants. Why? I didn't tell you the seeds were 3 years old that were kept in a sock drawer. So the plants were weak. The cyclodon's turned yellow as soon as they sprouted. No energy. 3 year old seeds are not worth the work and time and money. Number 2....

The compost was my own. I didn't check Nitrogen levels, just ph. I learned later that compost needs nitrogen. I planted 3 year old weak seeds in compost straight from the bin. It's been a month and my plants were not more than 6 inces tall. All mature fans turned yellow and had issues with a fungus. Blight I believe. I threw in the towel today. Yanked em and gonna start again, fresh. Smarter. Anyone who is intelligent knows he knows nothing, you are always learning. Failure is welcome......

2 lessons I learned and wanted to share. Store your seeds properly. Either freezer for long term or fridge for short term. Not a sock drawer. 2, homemade compost needs tested for npk. Especially N. I did not know this till now. I had a double whammy this time. But, I'm will be coming back. More informed. Better equipped. Fresher start. Stay tuned......

Anyone who has followed my grows know I don't speak bs. I failed but will learn from it and come back twice as hard. I didn't know seeds lost viability after 2 years without reduced temps.....

Next 2 strains are Godfather OG and Sour Diesel from a new seed vendor I'll keep to myself until it's time.....Peace.....

I'd post pics, but am ashamed. They look sick and struggling. Not worth the bandwidth.......They pulled and on to the plant heaven... .Put them.out of their misery. stayed tuned for the resurrection....

A good gardener knows when it's time to throw in the towel, yeah it sucks, but we've all been there, myself included

      Great post, Radeon.
I keep my seeds, both home made and purchased, in a second refrigerator. Even five year old ones germinate and grow well.

I like 50/50 coco/perlite with GH Trio nutrients. Eliminates all sorts of grow medium problems.
Thanks for sharing. Good info for all of us fellow growers.

I also have "been there". Lost $100 worth of seeds because I covered the newly sprouted/transplanted seedlings with a plastic cover. Too wet. They damped off. Lesson learned: seedlings don't need the extra humidity.

I have struggled with this problem recently.

Its no fault of the grower what you have described...sometimes seeds are not viable and it doesnt matter what you do they will fail.

What did you use to make your compost? NPK deficiency shouldn't be an issue with compost at the early stages of a grow, more often than not you get too much N.

Not only are low temps essential for seed storage but the more sudden variations in temp the faster they become less viable. They can be stored for many years for sure.

Can anyone explain this? Seeds shipped from Florida, to St. Paul Minnesota, to St. Lois MO, to Quad Cities Illinois? Florida, to St. Paul Minnosota to St. Louis Mo to the Midwest Illinois seems like a huge waste of airplane fuel to me. No joke.....Point A to C.to point B. Am I high as fudge or is this a total waste......Draw the line on a map in the timeline. Does it make sense?

Never had these issues until I went with a new seed supplier......Not happy. Not to mention they were supposed to be delivered today by 9pm. Nothing.

Just.contacted to seed supplier. Very rude. "Not our problem with shipping." Very, very rude. No respect. I should have them by Feb 9th. It shows in transit, so we are not in fault. Reverse the charge, and your at fault, well fight it. She said by Feb 9th, if I don't receive them from the seeds supplier by then, then complain. I would have zero issues if she wasn't so rude. Basically told me as long as it shows in transit, they will fight the reverse charge on the cc. If I dont receive the seeds by Feb 9th, Ill let you know and avoid them at all cost......Very rude people. I'd be upset if I was running that company. You don't treat paying customers with that level of disrespect. Not a good buisness move in my opinion.....Has till Feb 9th before I drop the info.....

She was so rude and disrespectful is wasn't funny. ''I'll gladly take my cash to others with zero issues"....... Waiting for the Google review to let you know how it went. I have zero issues with making my experiences public. I'll tell you where to spend your money and with my experience so far, it ain't here......stay tuned.....You dont disrespect paying customers. Thats a no no.........

ILGM ain't no joke. I can't express enough how well their cs is. That's "customer service." ILGM will make sure the customer is happy. Dealt with them for over 3 years. Others need to take notes on how you treat customers......They don't say it's not our problem. they say we fu*ked up, how can we help? I like that. I'd pay extra for getting what I asked or payed for..
