Water cured RSO

48 hours. 2 water changes got rid of the brown water. Third and fourth changes were a bit murky. Final change and the water was fair clear and no longer smelled like tea.
The buds got cut into smaller bits and gently squeezed. They are sitting on a 25 micron screen on a cookie rack. Humidity the next 36 hours will be between 25% and 60% which will be great for drying. Rain comes tomorrow which bones that.
Visual inspection is good. There are still a lot of trichomes.

The vacuum pump I use is a Mighty vac hand pump type thing. Kind of like squeezing plier handles against a spring with one side connected to a a cylinder with a piston and some valves. I am on my fourth one now. Over time the piston develops drag, requiring more force to operate the pump. Eventually either the valves, seals, or the handle give out. I started with the cheap one, then bought the name brand thinking it would last longer, now I'm back to the cheap ones since they both crap out way to soon. I have used these for years working on cars and never had a problem. Idk if the difference is the amount of pumping required for the lab process or the presence of ethanol vapors. I was also wondering if the same problem was happening in larger electrically powered pumps.

Gee whiz! I don't know where the hell it went, but my water bud lost 1.5 grams. After less than 24 hours of drying, it's down to 8.5 grams. I'll leave it for a total of 24, but I don't think there's any more water. I thought this was going to take weeks.
A couple of the larger buds got cut to expedite the drying. After seeing what's happened overnight, cutting the buds was unnecessary.
Ethanol comes in a week.

Hi, Ck...
I was curious about your pump(s).
I have both Gast DOA and DAA diaphragm vacuum pumps that I bought used on eBay about 15 years ago when setting up my lab. I just looked them up and the specs say the components are highly resistant to all sorts of chemicals (should have first before posting my question). I imagine that they will perform well in alcohol vapor. New, they will pull 29.5, but mine are a bit worn.
