    when should plants be topped?

Usually after the 5 th or 6 th branch node, that gives you 10-12 tops, but don't top auto flowers

      Hi, Tommy. Welcome aboard!

I will assume you have an indoor grow. 4th, 5th, or 6th internode should work okay. It depends on how tall your space is and how much your photo joy strain will stretch in flowering. A 72" tall tent should give needed space. A 36" tall one, not so much.

I respect Gator's comment on not topping autos. I did an outdoor grow experiment this fall, doing exactly that - topped 3 Amnesia Haze autos at 4th internode. Still in ground finishing up, each with several stalks heavy with nice buds.

Try some experimenting with your seedlings, maybe top one or two AF's to see how they perform. The only real AF restriction I follow is they don't clone well.
