    Compareing LED Lights

    Hi Everyone,

I'm going to be making the switch from MH/HPS to LED lights because of continuous heat problems and, EVERYTHING in my house is electric, so I'm looking to save on energy costs as well. I've narrowed it down to two lights. One has separate switches for Veg / Bloom and the other doesn't. Other than that they are very comparable except price ($50 difference). My question for the community is; How valuable / important do you feel it is to have the Veg / Bloom switches? Is that feature worth the extra $50?

Also, I've been looking at the COB lights as well. They sound great and are less expensive (at least the one I'm looking at), but I'm getting mixed reviews online. Anyone have First-Hand knowledge on these compared to "normal" LED's?

    Thanks Everyone!

If you are looking at saving on energy running the veg light without the bloom on would be the way to go. I would think running CFL for the veg stage would be the cheapest way to go and switch to the LED light for the bloom.

Btw. The veg setting on the light I posted is intense, 5-6 bands of different whites and blues.

Can you post a link to the light?

Absolutely, I upgraded from a vipar and found the resulting end product to be better. I'd wake them up and put them to sleep with the red spectrum, and find that it's easier to create optimum light settings for what stage I'm in. Also, the 300w works just as good. Just less of a footprint

Nice. It looks like I'm going to start off the 3 of the 300w fixtures for my bloom tent. That should keep my electric bill the same while being able to provide more light to the plants.

Another benefit I have found with the varied power LED- either dimmable or grow/bloom switch- is the reduced power can also be used to help control heat/RH when needed.

I get quality buds at a very low cost per gram.

Yeah, that's one of the things I'm shooting for by switching to LEDs. Even in winter I'm constantly battling heat in my tent. If I turn the exhaust fan up to remove the heat the RH drops to 32-36%. As I mentioned earlier, everything in my house is electric, so adding another piece of equipment to plug in is not an option.
