Explain soil feeding to me like I’m a 5 year old

My first grow is starting to look like:

Outdoors in 7 gallon grow bags using a high quality soil like FoxFarm. Growing 3 different hybrid strains (from feminized clones)

So I’m using new soil, so I shouldn’t need to do anything but water for the first few weeks. Correct?

I’m transplanting my clones this weekend. That puts me in the vegetative stage until sometime in early fall, yes? That means I need to use a vegetative fertilizer?

When they start to flower, that means I switch over to a flowering fertilizer?

And I use fertilizers designed for soil plantings, not hydro. But I can use either dry or wet as long as it’s for the appropriate growing medium?

Seriously, you can use coco nutes in soil and im guessing hydro nutes in soil grows without any issues.

Why in small grow bags? Raised garden beds are the go.

Hey EyesOfTheWorld have you checked out any of the grow articles over on the GWE web site? If not, check out https://www.growweedeasy.com/what-so...owing-cannabis and

Your FF soil should get you through the first few weeks of your grow and may get you all the way to flower, but I doubt it. Watch your plants for deficiencies and use the Plant Problems tab at the top of this page if you have any issues.

          My .02

I would up the bag size to 20 gal. Soil should be good for at least 4 weeks. After that I would be starting to lightly amend and ramp up after week 6 of veg.

Use whatever nutrients you feel are best. As Bluey said, in soil it doesn't really matter. In hydro or coco, yes, media conditions ask for a specific formulation but in soil you can pretty much use most anything. I prefer liquid over powdered ferts. Liquid will mean you have to mix up your ferts while powdered will let you just water and let the ferts do their thing but I like to steer my plants so I prefer the liquid nutes.

I would use grow/veg base ferts throughout until you start to see preflower. Then I'd do a 50/50 blend for the first 6 weeks of flower. After that pure flower base ferts to the end.

If you decide to put them in the ground, when I worked up in NorCal we used to dig a 3 x 3 hole, fill the bottom 1/3 with super soil and the rest with regular potting mix.
