    My first grow!

Hello everyone, I’m about to start my first ever grow! It’s 100% legal where I live. The only issue might be the HOA but by the time they can hassle me I should be able to push things out beyond harvest time.

I’m going to be planting 4 clones, one off each:
    • Humboldt Sour Diesel
    • Girl Scout Cookies
    • Melted Strawberries
    • Runtz
I plan on using 5g grow bags using potting soil. I used this soil last year for some peppers and tomatos, so I want to rejuvenate it to save not only $ but the effort of lifting/cutting bags. It was messy IIRC.

My plan is to transplant my clones at the beginning of June. One of my first decisions is where to put the grow bags. I have pretty much just two locations outside; Location #1: 2nd floor deck rail which gets direct sunlight for 6 hours and plenty of indirect after that. Location #2: on the edge of my garage, either inside or outside of the open door. I can open/close the door remotely and on a schedule. I’m not exactly sure how much direct sun it gets, but I’m discovering those values now.

I’d prefer the dedk location just because it’s more convenient and I sit all day on the deck anyways so I can keep my weed company. And obviously the security is a lot better because tresspapsers would have only their conscious to keep them from messing with my plants. Security cameras and “beware of dog” sign will be in place just to make someone think twice. That being said the garage location may very well get better sun coverage. If that’s the case I don’t know what I’ll do. Maybe use both locations. I’m not that paranoid about trespassing as my neighborhood is tucked away from others. Crime is low, but reports of porch pirates are not unheard of. It would suck royale if someone messed with my guys, but at the end of the day they’re just plants.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. I was looking at Reddit subs for info, but since a lot of people link to growweedeasy.com I thought this forum might be a more enjoyable experience. With Reddit you usually get a dozen different answers to questions you never asked. I’ve always preferred “private” forums for participating in hobbies. Especially a sticky hobby!

Welcome to GWE! My "sign" says "The hell with the dog beware owner". I have the rep as "that crazy long hair with a big gun and a sharp shovel". The garage is IMHO not a good idea, dont want anyone to know what you are doing, no need to advertise. My Dad plant chaste trees (looks much like what we grow) for the bees, some dude spotted them and grabbed all he could get and ran, Dad watched him doing it and just laughed, ya dumbass go smoke that!
The links in the green bar at the top of this page have tons of great info, read read read!

I had to look up chaste tree. Yeah, dude's gonna have some sort of mental interruption if he smokes that!
Grandma had some sort of tree I always thought was weed. Wish I knew what it was.
      C'mon, mule!

One thing I've learned is that re-using soil often results in weird problems with water retention and nutrient deficiencies. Things seem to go more smoothly with fresh soil. Though I know some people are experts are refreshing soil. I'm not speaking for them!

Welcome Aboard. I'd prolly do the deck. Share the space with the medicine. Just for the reasons you and Rwise have stated.

BTW, when I was a teenager in OK there was a weed that grew wild that looked exactly like MJ. Can't remember what it was called but I wasted time and effort trying it out.
