Pots and ppfd for seedlings in soil

G'day, i have been recently switched from DWC to soil as I was having trouble finishing my plants off, mainly with pH levels constantly increasing in the flowering period. Now with soil I have had a bit of trouble getting my babies going, I think overwatering and maybe to much ppfd. I've been reading 2 different theory's on watering and pot selection. one is tall skinny pots to get seedling going and water until soil is fully saturated once the pot "feels light again"
Second is solo cups and only water part of the surface of soil leaving some area dry.
Has anyone done a side by side comparison?
Also does anyone use a spider farmer se7000 and if so what ppfd do you use at each stage??

    Thanks for your input

PS love this site and forum, very informative.

Do you have any pictures of the plants in the setup? Seedlings barely need any light or water at first. I keep my Spider Farmer LEDs 3 feet away at first and mine is much smaller (200W version).

I had good luck with the GWE seedling watering schedule. At least in a 2-gallon pot under the 200W Spider Farmer. Here's the beginning (it continues on the pg).

Day 1 – Give 2 cups (500ml) water per seedling.
Day 3 – Give 2 cups (500ml) water per seedling.
Day 6 – Give 2 cups (500ml) water per seedling.
Day 8 – Give 3 cups (750ml) water per seedling (every 3 days after this)
Day 11 – Give 3 cups (750ml) water per plant.

Anyways, I hope that helps. It sounds like you're doing a great job caring about your plants!

I do move my LED closer by the time they're the size in the Pic.

The one on the left is a random seed that I germinated how I usually do soak for 24 hours in warm rain water then into moist paper towel at room temp until tap root is 5-10mm then into peat pod until I can see tap root at the bottom and then into soil or clay balls depending on what I'm doing. I also left it for 5 days without water after first water putting into soil. And have the light at 200 ppfd, room temp 24-28c Rh is usually on the dry side. The 2 other ones Are blue dream fems which firstly are 4 weeks older 😕 I soaked these then put straight into those pots and seedling mix to germinate then I cared a bit too much and pretty sure over watered then tried putting light up to 300 ppfd to hopefully dry them out and force them to grow but they didn't respond after a few days so backed off to 200 and left them for the 5 days came back and all the bottom leaves had yellowed off so Ive cut them off got some more blue dream seeds coming and going to go back to paper towel and peat pod and try harder to restrain myself from watering so much ha. Also Ive been using rain water with a slight trace of root booster and when I seen the 2 struggling I gave them 1/4 strength cal-mag to try help them bounce back, not sure if that did more harm or not.

Can't see it in pic but I also have 6 inch intake fan sucking fresh air into room.
