    Help with Yahoo

This is not weed related, but I have hit a wall maybe someone knows something about.
Yahoo has deleted my email account without telling me why and I am unable to speak with a human unless I pay for the service. Does anyone know what's going on?

That's frustrating. I have not had that happen yet, paying to talk to a human. I suppose that's that way of the future with AI. I don't like it when machines replace people.

I just had my ATT email account, in which Yahoo is the client, suddenly stop working. Yes, it was marketed years ago as AT&T email powered by Yahoo. I called ATT. They said delete the account and forget Yahoo because Yahoo is now owned by Verizon, and that meant ATT could not help me. I hung up and called right back, got another agent who helped me fix the problem.

What do they want to charge?

To break it down, Yahoo is not allowing me to access my email account and wants to extort money to get it back.

Tried to sign in to Yahoo. Got told my account is no longer accessible and I should go to their online support. Online support is fucking AI and unable to help me and suggests I call customer support. Customer support costs money. The amount is moot because this is straight the fuck up extortion. I'm not asking how to setup my vacation notice. I want what they took from me.

I called anyway and told an actual person what happened. Bitch said it was a pay service. I told her she was trying to extort money from me by wanting money for something they took. Got put on hold for a while. She came back and said as a one-time courtesy, she would help me out. After telling her I couldn't go her route for a recovery code because I don't have a cell phone or do social media, she said I needed to send a picture of my ID. I asked her how I could without a camera, cell phone, or email. Her suggestion was to grab a friend or neighbor. Fuck... no. If a neighbor asked me to do the same thing, I would say no, so I will not ask a neighbor. That was the end of that call.
A while later I called again. Asshole wanted to do a remote access of my computer and said I probably changed a setting. Almost said fuck you to it being my fault. Instead told him there was no way I would give access to my computer to the people who have deleted my email account.
The FCC and BBB have been notified because this is straight up fucking extortion.
I have to figure out whose information I just lost. Friends. Doctors. Bills. Who the fuck else.

If this an account that you regularly used and have accessed recently that is bizarre and unreasonable. Where you hacked maybe? That might cause an account to be locked, but deleted? Start a new gmail and have the code sent there.
Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.

Girlfriend, please. Gmail was never a consideration. I dig me a google. More than that and they're going to want me to open my wrists.

Did some research. This is a thing. This is going on with others. Yahoo is running an extortion scheme. AI can only do so much. If AI can't help fix Yahoo's mistake, you have to pay to talk to someone who only might be able to help fix Yahoo's mistake.
I went with Outlook. Please save personal reviews. I will not give Yahoo this email because I want to disappear from it when I get my information back.
This might be because I never set up a 2 step identification thing. If they make a mistake and I need to retrieve information, or something. I honestly don't know. They want my social media accounts, cell phone number, and I think I saw fingerprint and facial identification. I am unconcerned about my email security because I don't do shit. I'm not planning overthrowing anything. I don't know who shot Kennedy. I've posted exactly one picture of myself on the internet that has since been deleted. Gimme a username and password, and I'm good. If you break into my email, you are a dumbass.
My paranoia meter is hovering at overload, and I hate it! Every fucking company I deal with wants to know every fucking thing about me and it's all about trying to sell me shit. Whatever anyone thinks when I say this, there is no reason for me to get spam for ED pills or porn sites except someone sold or stole my contact information to piece of shit criminals and advertisers, whom I believe are synonymous with each other.
It is goddamn nigh on impossible to live a simple life. E-free, I mean. Someone sneezes and it costs me time, money, frustration, and privacy. In the end, there is no accountability. Bad reviews. Bad press. But the next generation of sucker will keep the wheels turning and neither AI nor the human you might talk to care about your problems, really.
Gonna go get me a notebook. All the information I need to get in touch with the people I need to touch will fit on two pages. If I want a backup, I'll head to the liquor store and make copies.
Nebula, Sirius... if you're reading this, thanks for never sending me an email! I don't get weed related ads or spam, so I'm pretty sure you haven't sold my information. Thanks for that, too. Big hug!

I know, man! AI is still the red-headed special needs stepchild but is already being given the reigns to the information dissemination of the world.
With the state of the world, I'm about to shun everything internet except GWE. No fucking politics. No fucking money. Support not condescension. No shame. Head back to the library and suck down some Steinbeck.

Data mining, phishing and generating a charge is constant. It does feel like everything is a potential scam and way to intrusive. There is so much email that I delete with out it being opened it is getting out of hand. I remember when none of this electronic world existed. There were still scams, but the scams weren't constantly being casted in your direction.

Two secrets to emails. First secret is to unsubscribe. It works. It may take a few wayward emails to get out of the system, but it works.
The second secret to unwanted emails is spam. I don't just mean marking them as spam, I mean going the extra click and blocking sender and domain.

Online person wanted the same picture ID I've been saying I won't give.
My last line to that was, in a nutshell, 'I'm not sending you a picture of my ID because I don't trust you. You broke it, you fix it. Stop trying to extort people.'
They took my Outlook account and added that as an alternate email account which I have been protesting against this whole time: gathering of information. I'm back on Yahoo long enough to save my information and head for the hills, as it were.
Now, I'm trying to delete my Outlook account. Apparently, they do not believe I am who I say I am, either and will not delete the account.
I'm going to calm down with some MMA. I need blood. Wonder who's on.

I feel your pain. Technology is great when it works. When it breaks, well you get the kind of BS you are dealing with. Extortion or unfettered capitalism, both the same IMHO. We can thank the capitalists for the laws that put business interests over personal privacy.

So you don't have a cell phone but do have a land line? When I was a kid we had party lines and an operator. Somebody was always listening even way back then. That was well before cell phones of course, but now we don't have land lines and do have cell phones and the b@st@rds have still figured out a way to listen to everything we say.

I have landline that I'm about to trade in for a telegraph line. I thought I wanted to talk to people, but I was wrong. So wrong.
Went to get onto Yahoo to start getting any information I need and put up an out of office thing so people know I won't be on Yahoo anymore. But... to get into my Yahoo account, I have to get into the new Outlook account for a verification code. I'm done with trying to come up with words for this. I'm done with Yahoo and am making noise on consumer website about the extortion thing.
Wound up telling two people I could not understand them and asked for a supervisor. Of course, there are no longer supervisors.

Same exact thing happened to me. Try as I did they would not or could not access my email that I had for over 25 years. Said they couldn't find it. Luckily for me nothing on there I really cared about so I told them to fuck off and opened a Gmail account. It's 100% extortion.

Wow, stranger broma bull! That sounds like quite a predicament!
From experience, if Gmail is no use, go to the BBB and file an attempted extortion complaint. When a company I was dealing with wouldn't help me without paying when they made the mistake, they were in communication with me within a few hours of filing a complaint.
A little research of Gmail and Yahoo, both mentioned in this thread, they are not accredited with the BBB. They are not accredited but bow to the BBB.
When being extorted for such things as customer support, the FTC is also a wonderful source.
