Ya it’s not ideal but you’re south of me and lots of people do it here with photos. Some Plants will begin to flower with more than 12 hours like 13. If you’re going to do photos look for genetics that are intended for northern growing and as short a flower as possible.
You can also do autos just make sure if you start them outside it’s warm enough or you will stunt them and be no better off
I’ve done it wrong both ways 😆2 PhotosKIS mix organic living soil from Black Sallow soils in 7gal. pots
Black Swallow Organic Bloom mix top dress before flower.
Reusing soil with Black Swallow nutrient pack between grows
Maybe some compost teas
Blumat watering system
Microbial Mass and other microbial boosters(Wallace)
3x4x6’ tent

thanks for the info, i was hoping they would start flowering b-4 12/12 i'm gonna start everything inside. i have 5 diff. types of photos 3 are some sort of unknown purple strain that were donated/traded for. the two i know are satori by mandala seeds and purple satellite by green mountain. the autos are purple kush, white widow and durban poison. if you know anything about these i would appreciate your opinion. this is only my 2nd try and last year was a bust with some autos in a window. thanks for the help

I don’t really know anything about those strains, look them up with the breeder and see if the have an estimated flower time.
Starting them inside will give them a head start but won’t help the photos finish early
Starting the autos inside will allow you to get them going earlier, but you’ll have to be careful when moving them outside. If you don’t harden them off properly that shock will stunt them

I have been growing outside for number of years in northern IL. Grew white widow and other strains that all begin to stretch and flower in July/August. I would start indoors and try to time moving out around June 20. At least then the daylight is getting shorter everyday.
Problem is that this takes you to big buds that are subject to rainy, bud rot potential in mid late September. Always worth it, but nerve racking at the end.

That's how I first started. Inside in a window. They'll get going, but in the future, you'll be best to get a small LED light to give them a better start. The last couple years I started inside under a light and finished in the garage under the light. Much better results. This year I went to the indoor tent. Just about to harvest this, with no worries about September weather . The garage shot was last fall. Maybe look into a light to finish, it will avoid weather issues in the end. Have fun.2 Photos
