Here's the Blue Lab pH Pen manual in pdf format.

In there it says "DO NOT soak or rinse the pH probe in RO (Reverse Osmosis), Distilled or De-ionized water. Pure water changes the chemistry in the reference, causing the probe to die."

definitely a worthy investment, bit pricey but look after it and it will serve you well for a long time.

I just use plain water and a soft tooth brush. Don't know if solution goes bad or not but since you are not to reuse it..big containers are fine in my book
have fun! Practice with it- measure your plain water and practice bringing it down to 6 . Remember if you go down ( or up) too far you cannot correct it. Start again from scratch.
also get some ml syringes - really makes for mor accuracy than counting drops.
        bravo!!!!

Thanks Tika, I did find a kit, I each 7.0 and 4.0 calibration and 1 100ml storage solution. I would think if the stuff doesn't go bad or get contaminated in some way, that should last quite some time.

i have another question for you bluelab owners....my current set (Etekcity i think) is ridiculously top heavy. so it just falls over unless it is perfectly balanced.... i cannot stress enough how much of a huge PITA this is. does bluelab do this?

Bobs...I need to see what you mean by falling over. I use a large shot glass of my mixed nutrients and or the pH down. I pour it from the gallon, test pour back. Pen is supported by shot glass. Then nutrients get poured. For outbput pH measure I place it in the runoff as it fills up...
