    New to the forums - not to growing [currently PTK]

    Just wanted to drop a post as a new member here!

    I've been growing for a long time, but recently switched to DWC from soil. It's been a blast! Currently trying Nebula's manifold out on some Pine Tar Kush I'm growing. It's actually been wonderfully receptive, and the results have been far better than what I was getting without the manifold and LST.

    Super hype to be part of a community that has helped me so much!
    Current Grow:
    - Pine Tar Kush {photoperiod}
    - ViparSpectra XS2000 LED {full spectrum, dimmable}
    - MarsHydro grow tent {4'x4'x6'}
    - DWC bucket
    - Manifold/LST

              Here's a couple pics from tonight's check. I think it's coming along alright for my first manifold. Had to switch her to flowering a bit earlier than I wanted due to some time crunches, but she seems healthy overall and continues to grow well for me. This is just after the first defoliation two days ago and the switch to flowering. Top and side view, figured having both would help. Cheers on any comments or advice!

              EDIT - Yes, that's one of my boys, Gnomesford in there, keeping an eye on things for me. He has a red-cap brother named Gnomeseley.

                What's your average temp? I see some leaf edge curling and irregular leaf twisting. That usually means the temp is a little too high for them. Could also be lights a little too close or environment off a bit.

                  could be the hydro water that's too warm.

                Yeah, it's the house temp, it's been keeping my tent a little too warm so I've had to fight that leaf curl. I should have a new fan coming in soon though to help deal with that. I actually keep my light hanging around 1.5-2ft above my plant, and they haven't burned from the light yet.

                    I see bleaching. Check your light intensity. Very yellow tops and yellowing throught the plant. Its stressed. .And like Rootsruler said, leaf curling. That's light related. Better fix that before she flowers or you'll be foxtailing.

                      It's a VS XS2000 full spectrum, dimmable LED. It's worked well enough for previous grows, though now I know that the bleaching is from the lights. More knowledge for the next grow! And hopefully knowledge in time to still get a decent harvest from this one, since she's barely into flower.

                      It's not that the leaves are actually that color. It's just that the light gives it that shade of green. When you turn them off the leaves are nice rich green.

                    Download the Photone app and check your PPFD and DLI with it. Super simple to use and it's pretty accurate. You should be around 35-40 DLI between 700 to 900 PPFD would be ideal. Though I would go on the lower side until she recovers a bit.

                    I agree with Rootsruler and Radeon the lights might be too intense. It's probably also causing your water to become warm. Stress from above and stress from below. She's a sizable plant and will give you plenty flowers but you have to resolve the issues now, or you'll be disappointed come harvest.

                      Thank you both for the sound advice!
                      This is my first grow doing a manifold, so I've had a few unfamiliar but seemingly minor problems.
                      I am in the process of ordering a new fan to help control the tent heat, but if adjusting the lights down alone can help, well, she's dimmable, so that's thankfully an easy fix!

                      As was mentioned, look into Daily Light Integral to adjust your light to the proper amount of ppfd your plants want.

                      Yeah, I got the app that was mentioned.
                      Just gotta wait for my lights to kick back on this evening before I can pop in there and adjust anything.
                      Trust, I'm tapping my foot waiting for the timer to click on!
                      Sadly that's still several hours away...I'll definitely be sure to adjust the lighting and get another update on in a few days after she hopefully recovers a bit.

                    I used the app and checked the PPFD and DLI.
                    They measured at PPFD of 534 and DLI of 43.
                    Given the ranges you stated earlier, I'm at a loss of what to do here as the DLI is high but the PPFD is already lower than the stated range, any advice?
                    I turned the light down so that the DLI was in range ( now at 32.1) but this dropped the PPFD to 486.
                    If the advice is a new light, I'm not sure how soon I'd be able to afford one...so anything to go on for now with this one would be appreciated!

                      Your plant is still in veg right?

                      If so, a PPFD of 500 to 550 is about as high as I would go at that stage of growth giving it 18hours of light and 6 hours of dark. I wouldn't be giving it 700 to 900 PPFD until after I'd flipped to the flower cycle and at least a few weeks into that.

                      If your plants are struggling with nute deficiency or other problems it does pay to reduce the intensity of the light which gives you & the plant a bit of a breather to help correct things

                        I'd do 650-700 ppfd for about a week, week and a half. Then I would ramp up to about 800-850 for the rest of flowering if she recovers well. That leaf curling in both pics, even on the bottom is concerning. Not tent temp, but what is the temp AT CANOPY LEVEL? Tent temp is not temp directly under the light. Measure temp at your tops. I still say light issue.

                        As Radeon says for the first week and keep increasing. 750 is a very safe bet for the rest of the grow but if you can monitor them closely and adjust them regularly you'll find some strains that can manage well with 1200 and produce some whopper buds and huge yields, but you have to keep temps down and humidity under 50 to get there.

                        Radeon I do tend to measure at canopy level for temp and that's where I measured for the DLI/PPFD.
                        I'll have to look into a different light before next grow if it's not a heat issue then, for sure.
                        I do keep the light about 2ft from the top of the canopy, but at the intensity I need the light at, maybe I should hang it higher? My tent is highly reflective, so that's not really an issue for side lighting, and I have her splayed out good for thorough top lighting.
                        Bluey Let's just say that I can freely work with the photoperiod PTK seeds for a while. That was my hope of trying the manifold process, see what the strain responds well to, and do another, larger grow.
                        I'll keep this in mind and keep adjusting my light back up a bit each night. I do record what info I can, so that app will help record that change.
                        When I look for a new light, I'll also keep that range in mind, though I have preferred adjustable LEDs so far.

                        As always, the advice is greatly appreciated! I may be a hobby grower, but I am also a man of science, haha
