    Non-cannabis bug

Got me a thing on my Ficus plants. A spray would be cool but I would prefer something systemic. So far I have only tried vinegar and H2O2 solutions.
Please ignore the dirt and dust. Got some jackhammers and shovels running amok down below.

That is scale. It's an insect.

White oil should work fine. Wipe the leaves after giving them a good spray. You can make white oil from a few different kitchen oils and add some dishwashing liquid.

Don't apply on hot days. Over 85⁰F and it will hurt your plant a lot.

Edit. The idea is to drown the insect. Likely require a few applications a few days apart. I think it can attack cannabis so be cautious.

Leaf scale was the first thing I googled and I only half agree. What doesn't fit is the damage. The damage being the white lines you see. It is always just the two lines/scrapes. It's like the scale is taking a suck and moving. My experience with scale is it multiplies but is stationary.
White oil, you say... sounds pretty innocuous. The plants are on my balcony. Because of wind and junk, dirt and dust and spray that gets kicked up usually gets in my face. I have little fear of innocuous white oil getting in my face.

Scale can and does move but once they stop that's it..they just stay there. Neem works too. Any oil should work fine if it contains an emulsifier. Add to water and bingo, white oil.

I'd try Canola oil or if you don't have that vegetable oil.

10-4 B. Found some recipes. Need to repurpose a spray bottle and raid a neighbor's cooking oil.
