    The 2024 eclipse grow

The new season is here, making the best of it. I usually try to start my beans on the full moon. This year I had the opportunity to start them during the 4/8/24 solar eclipse. I'm anticipating a good grow this year.

Baby pix of the new grow, 1-2 days old depending when they broke surface. I used the soak for 24 hours then drop in moist coco/perlite. Hasn't failed me yet. It is good to get the tent back up and running. I am adding a temporary water supply line to the second floor of the barn. No more carrying 6 gallon jugs of water up the stairs.

    5 x 5 cheap tent
4 x 4 flood table on a slight pitch for runoff collection
SF 4000 light, heat sinks on the drivers
Vivosun 8 inch variable speed exhaust fan
Lots of cheap 6 inch clip on fans
    Poniie PN2000 kilowatt power monitor
    Mother earth coco/perlite 70/30
    GH Trio nutes
    calmag
    pH paper strips
    start in red solo cups
finish in 3 gallon cloth grow bags
High stress manifold pruning and net splat training
Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.

        Day 8
Everyone is happy. I increased the nute concentration and increased the light to about 60%, still at 24/0. Temp in the lung room is coming up, soon I can switch to 18/6, now the light is keeping them warm. They will be moved to the final pots maybe next week, waiting for the roots to poke out the bottom of the cups.

Oh wow. They are cool pics.

Looking forward to following this grow.

          Q. Does a flood table save on water (or nutes for that matter) say compared to just top watering with nute mix into coco? I drain to waste

I don't flood the table. It is a DTW with nutes in coco system. It is a water proof base that is set on a pitch so all the runoff comes to the front where it is easily removed with a water vacuum.

Ok got you. Last grow I drained to a plumbed waste system but it's a right PITA as the pipework had to be worked each time to suit pot layout which changed depending on what was in veg and what went through to flower, a regular seed problem with subsequent leak problems..blah blah blah
This grow just using your regular spill dishes that sit under the pots using a vacuum or syringe to collect waste if any similar to yourself, no overflows yet but not producing much runoff.
I would love a closed system Doing aeroponics for the clones is giving me ideas but pH down regularly is a challenge to automate.

You have some excellent genetics going there, I just finished a Slurricane #7 X Platinum Kush Breath #5 from In-House and it as the stickiest and frostiest strain I have ever grow so I popped some of their Garlic Storm seeds and I popped another to cross breed in hopes of getting some bigger buds out of it. I have some of their Slurricane #7 on deck for the winter grow.
You cant go wrong with DNA, them and Ethos are my top 2 favorite breeders, they have never disappointed.

I got the seeds because I was getting Mandarin Zkittlez from the dispensary and I loved it. Move grew so well and was so frosty. You touched a leaf and your fingers would smell like straight up oranges. After curing, all the orange terps just vanished. It tasted like berries....blackberry-ish. IDK how that happened. Could just be a pheno

Because at least 50% of terps are lost even with an absolutely perfect dry. The drying process destroys them unfortunately.

They are 3 gallon cloth pots with a the top 12" ring cut from a tomato cage.

And of course I couldn't leave them alone. I kept 4 node sets, 1-4 from the main stem, so I had 8 main branches to extend out and tie to the ring. Some of them weren't ready for the 4th set so they will grow out a bit first. The primary fan leaves from node 1, 2, 3, were removed and the node 4 leaves were left in place to feed the plant during recovery. In a few days when the node 4 shoots are bigger those fans will be removed also. I am doing this technique due to the fact that I can not spend as much time on these as I usually do. So instead of a true manifold, I am doing a quad-line is what I think it is called. Still using the wire ties and hoops. I think it will grow out well.
