    Golfnrl,
    I appreciate your input.
I did think of hydro from the start, but my current tent is 2x2, and I believe I read where in can get a little crowded. My plan is to graduate to a 4x something. I thought that might be an easier change.

I have been looking at coco comments, and since I will probably have to do nutes anyway, it’s been getting consideration. Of course , I am sure there are coco specific nutes.

I am so happy GWE did a lot of the research for me. They Rock!

    Mollisol,
Indeed part of my graduation will be where I get another tent, that way keep some moms. I am starting with the autos to get myself a quick supply.

Coco does require coco specific nutes and regular calmag additions to keep your plants happy. You'll also need a good pH meter about $100 and calibration and storage solution.

You'll likely need to give the medium some runoff and at least one decent flush so will need to manage the waste runoff as best you can.

In coco I always run drain to waste. In soil I let the drain reabsorb back into the soil. Never had a problem doing that.

I understand about graduating tent sizes. I started with a 2x2.2x6, moved up to 3x3, added a 4x4, and just swapped out the 3x3 for a 2x4. I gave up 1 sf of space but the 3x3 was getting harder for me to reach everywhere in the tent. I use CX Horticulture nutrients. Since I've been using CX I have not needed to add any additional amendments or nutrients. However you decide, consider buying the best quality your budget will allow. I have made the mistake of buying inexpensive gear and ended up spending more. Just a thought.
