Just received this light and was looking for advice on how high above canopy and what power setting. I currently have it at 50% at 18 inches.

You should be able to get that info from the manufacturer. Better yet download the Photone app. which uses the camera on your phone to measure light and take away the guess work. There was a discussion about it on this site not long ago -
