    setting up tent for drying

I'm getting ready to harvest tomorrow. I don't have a drying rack so I plane to put a net trells close to the ceiling of my grow tent, then use clothes pins to hang the branches from the net. What temperature and humidity should I have for the tent (same question for later curing in mason jars). And should I have my grow light on to help the drying process? What about fans and ventillation?

Rope Ratchets work well to set up as dry lines.

No lights or direct fans. Can’t speak for best temp and humidity as mine isn’t ideal. I make do with what I have and 🤞for the best. Just don’t go too low on rh so the buds to turn to dust in a few days. Good luck!

ok so mines consistently 72-75 degrees, and my humidity is consistently 50-55%. one advantage I do have is i have a lot of control over environment and outside factors like pests or the elements are almost a non-issue with the tradeoff being less grow space.

also follow up question Do i absolutely need desiccant packs while curing? I have some food grade silica packs. Ive been using three to dry out my jars. which is probably overkill but whatever.

Try and get your temp like 60⁰F

You don't need the packs. Get a Cigar Oasis hygrometer. 20 buck little black ones you can drop in your jars and see exactly where it's at

            >Try and get your temp like 60⁰F

so with my light off its about 71 with 54% how can i bring the temp down to 60? Could I just flip over my exhaust fans so it blows air inward and uses the oscillating fan?

            >You don't need the packs. Get a Cigar Oasis hygrometer. 20 buck little black ones you can drop in your jars and see exactly where it's at

I do have those in my jars that im prepping. Right now its saying 72.7 and 57% for both jars. I figure that will change to 50% and near 60 degrees once i put the buds in to cure and store in a dark place, no?

If you have a humidifier, try and raise and maintain a humidity level of 60%. If you have a way of controlling temp like a controllable lung room you can bring down temp that way.

ok so i have one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1

I suppose the lowest setting will work. however im concerned about it directly spray mist on my plants making them soggy and moldy.

Spray into the room away from your plants. You're trying to raise the humidity in the air so that that humidity transfers to the plants. Humi should be ok for one plant.

I use an AC Infinity T3 humidifier. It has onboard programmability or you can connect it to their controller and run it that way. With the T3 all I need to do is program it at the level I want and it monitors and applies what's needed until it hits my setpoint and shuts off. Once it goes below my setpoint it turns back on and tops off the tent. The only thing I need to do is keep it filled.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Can't say that I have experience with a 100% sativa, yet, but temps of low 70's and RH in the low to mid 50's will serve you well as an environment to dry your buds. I'll have the sativa experience in a few weeks and will take note of the drying time as suggested by Bluey.

The hay smell goes away during the cure. Cure it and store it right and your weed will keep a very long time. Don't use any mechanical means to move the air in your drying space unless you need help controlling the temps, and even then just a very, very, gentle, gentle breeze. No lights either, dry in darkness, trichomes are fragile, light degrades the THC. Don't let the buds touch each other, that promotes mold.

In that environment the dry should take about 5 -7 days. After 3-4 days, snap a small stem. If it breaks clean you're good, if it doesn't, wait 24 hours and snap another stem, try several if you need to, it doesn't matter how long the buds have been drying, that stem test works as a guideline for when to put your dry weed into storage and begin the curing process. Once the weed is dry and put in storage, now you've moved to the curing phase, burp the container for a few minutes, at least daily, and if you need to more often, and watch the RH. If it creeps up open the container and let the weed air out for a little while. Cure for at least a month.

If your bud gets too dry, spritz some water on the underside of the jars lid, you are storing in glass jars, right?, that will raise the RH in the jar and help moisten your weed to the proper RH. During the cure and storage the RH should be around 60-62%.

Yes i am using jars. Basically im just asking a lot of questions to make sure i have everything planned out correctly because this is my first grow and first time doing the harvesting drying and curing stages and want to make sure I get it right the first time.
