    Newbie questions

Hi again all, so update on mine…was having trouble getting seeds to pop now four of them have popped all over the place. I went for the shot glass first and worked like a charm. Anyway, now I have a 2x2 tent and 4 ladies so I’m going to have to upgrade pretty quick 😂 So my questions…

lights out…Do you all turn everything off or keep a humidifier or fan going etc just the lights?

second Q….Can I run a 1000w light on a standard plug without any trips or problems? Electrics not my strong point…

    TIA

    HDK

I control the climate to suit lights on and lights off...3⁰C cooler of a night..RH% just comes down from 100% at germination to around 40% at harvest...bit lower if buds are huge and I'm trying to push them. Fans go 24/7 all 3 during flower and I start 1 once I get a few nodes for a very light breeze but much stronger during flower.

Have a read of the website. Pretty much everything you need is at

Bluey is correct. Read the site. It will answer every question you asked. That said, nothing else changes when the lights go out. A 1000 watt light is a misnomer on all sorts of fronts. A true wall draw 1000 watt light will burn down a 2x2 tent. I do not know how the manufacturer arrived at that number. See if you can determine how many watts it draws from the wall and that is the true wattage of your light, I have a 30"x30" tent and I use a 300 watt light. Whether or not your light will trip a breaker depends upon what else you have plugged into the circuit.
Current Grow: 1 GG4, 2 Hot Cakes, 1 Sweet Gelato Autos

I'd be interested to see this 1000w light. Can you give us the make and model please

Well it depends on the size of the canopy you're feeding light to and whether or not it's in the same size tent/reflective walls and your max light height...also if it's really cold or hot where you are growing.

Hey man first you gotta spend some money. Tents are easy and theres just so many popular brands of lights. Just do some research and pull the trigger then come back.

There are some amazing LED lights out there, but if you are growing in a really cold room you might want to look at HPS lights.
Value for money great LED lights I am familiar with that suit a 4x4 in order of cist (Note. I am only familiar with this brand and use them myself. Prior to using these I used a combination of flood lights which also worked pretty well too but not as efficient, more heat less PPFD)
Spider farmer SE7000 will do 5x5
SPIDER FARMER SF7000 will do 4.5x4.5
                and then SE5000 4x4
                and SF4000 3.5x3.5
Then there is the G series, cheaper and less efficient than the SE & SF series
                Do your own research
Buy direct. They do some great deals and have sales regularly of 10% off but also do once or twice a year 20% off, maybe more. Free shipping.

Cheers all, I have been looking at the spider farmers actually…well update - I lost my first seedling, I think I know where I cocked up tho. Lights positioned as per manual (I use ac infinity in this set up) growing slower down so me being impatient turned the lights up full strength. Seed shell was still on at day 8 so I decided to try and get it off, when I did she looked scorched. I have 2 more pushing through the soil today, they have popped up after 2 days, seems very quick.
I’ve definitely found my way with popping seeds, time for me to nail the seedling stage now, I was gutted lol

8 days! In not that patient. Two days max for me. Hang in there. Keep your seedlings humid. That nice thing about getting a light that other people have is that they can tell you what brightness settings and distance. Otherwise, a lighting app for your phone is a good idea.

You'll need to ask someone other than me. Pretty sure I fucked that up too.

Running 2 x SF7000. Had them at about 350mm 14" apart and 750mm 30" was too close down the middle. Got a little regrowth on the tops of the 3 or 4 tallest buds in the middle Was getting up above 1300 ųmol/m²/sec

Now about 640mm 26" apart edge to edge or 1200mm 4' centres. Will use the phone apps to see how even that now is. Knowing what I know now I probably should have gone with the SE7000's but they cost 30% more than the SF's...

Hdk40 so which lights are you leaning towards?

Well I’m changing my mind on the size of the next tent so undecided on lights but I think I will probably go with spider farmer brand or possibly Mars hydro…gonna have a little rearrange in the room and hopefully go for a 3x3 or 4x4 if I can fit it in without any stress. These two guys are my next two, process has happened alot quicker than the last so I’m hoping these will be fine…these are Orion F1. I took everyone’s advice on not juggling to many different strains so I’m sticking with one strain at a time, day 3 for these gals

If the shells don't fall off on there own droplets of water helps expand the leaf under it to push them off.

SoOrbudgal you just saved me so much stress! I normally have to gently squeeze or poke the shell's off the seedlings and worry about damaging them.

One thing I am 100 percent changing next time is the soil. Not keen on this stuff it seems way to heavy (canna professional) I’ve added perlite but still not happy with it. Going for a much lighter mix next time definitely
