Hi. Just casual reading regarding a neat thing on this grow, if folks are interested. Continue if you want - but get a Coffee first!
This grow continued to make it more apparent that when growing several strains, be prepared for individual treatment or get similar strains. I am just finishing up the pre-summer indoor grow in which in 2 tents I did 8 plants (3 photo, 1 CBD auto and 1 photo CBD) in a homemade super soil with compost as the base (food waste, yard waste, lots of seaweed and horse manure, supplemented by rock dust, gypsum, dolomite lime, crustacean shells, rock phosphate, blood and bone meal) - a recipe that seems to be working each time. 3 others (2 photo and the weird CBD described below) in coco using Flora Flex nutrients. The three high CBD strains all behaved oddly compared to their regular tent mates. The regular strains all have been predictable and are now within a week or two of harvest - I had to flower a little earlier than desired to have them finish before our vacation so a little smaller than preferred. Anyway, the cbd plants ALL had idiosyncracies as follows: 1 was a CBD auto that was started a week before the photo's, but she didnt start flowering till 2 weeks after the photos (5 weeks total) after changing to 12 12. this left her behind the others to start- so much for autos being quicker for me! BUT - she has recovered and is quite nice as we approach plucking time. the second was a Simply Pure CBD from White Widow Rocks, and she is just a midget, maybe half the size of the other plants - but beautiful. The last, an UNo Viente CBD from Canuk Seeds - which is the main one in the photo required individual attention that she didnt reqally get. . She grew quickly with a structure that looks like she was monstercropped/re-vegged, with many small spindly branches and many leaves with 3 lobes, and also showed signs of N2 surplus thru the whole grow (dark, platic like leaves - even though she was fed the same as the other coco plants, except I used only water for every 1 out of 3 waterings. I kinda gave up on her mainly because the CBD plants will be used totally for extracts and oil and no smoking. She is really odd/cool looking and needed many branch removal early to keep some spacing, as if she was re-vegged. I even changed the tent she was in to see if the different light would make a differenc = NO. And- she was showing light stress along with foxtailing a lot, but it would have been a lot of work to mitigate this so again I didnt bother except to keep her to periphery of the tent . She's the first to come down today with almost all cloudy trichomes and reddish flowers. SO - I am assuming that the super high CBD's (all around 20%) are still getting stabilized genetically. Comment as you see fit, and if some advice please do - I will be doing CBD on a regular basis as Wifey and friends have a need and I have too much weed to smoke. I wi9ll grow the uno viente again for sure as I am guessing she is the top producer of all the plants. In the photos the back two are regular photos and the left middle is the auto CBD, with the midget photo CBD at front right (mostly hidden). Thanks if you made it thru - ready for a nap? or at least a hot-knife break? Retirement is tooooooo much fun.
