    Drying in your grow room

I've always dried in the past in garages and sheds, mostly dark with reasonable air flow.
Now I have the privilege and convenience of a climate controlled grow room.
I've read 60⁰F and 60%RH a few times but I have my doubts....those with big buds to dry worried about mould, wouldn't you drop the RH?
And what about light? I've seen reds in grow rooms, I've heard claims UV brings out the terps but labs are yet to replicate this.
Drying racks, coat hangers, clothes drying racks or fishing line strung side to side (yes it's unsophisticated but works)
Post any tips pics and great ideas here

Well my plants hang in the same room my tent is in. I use a string LOL just hang branches not whole plants anymore, i use the feel and break a stem method i don't wait for a " snap " i go by feel of the bud. Could take 7-10days. Temps are 68f humidity varies 35-55% . I trim the branches but leave heavy suger leaf on as they hang or prior to hanging. Yes i have another tent but not setup do to space. My drapes are closed, i tap the strings now an then allow them to sway LOL really don't have issues as i don't grow pounds at a time.

    I use a t-5 & 54watt CFL for seedlings
Sometimes i use plastic sometimes i use fabric grow containers

Hello! Take the below with a grain of salt as everyone has their own way and it's best to make it yours so that whatever you do works for your situation and environment.

I dry in my tent. I've found that it's very convenient to do the drying while I'm cooking the soil for the next grow. I use my scrog net to hang the branches from. I just put it up about halfway up the supports and it's a great height. I keep a fan pointing towards the floor on the lowest setting to keep air moving around.

      For temp/RH setting I use:
      Temp: 60 degrees
      Humidity: 50%

These numbers of course fluctuate depending on the environment outside of my tent since I grow in my basement. It gets extremely damp sometimes in the summer, and depending on how much laundry we're doing, sometimes it gets warm too.

It might help to take a look at a psychrometric chart which will show how temp/RH/total water vapor all interact. This way if you have a temp that you can't control (basement is not airconditioned) you can adapt by adjusting the humidity level.

For example, in my experience, drying is best at about 40 grains of water vapor in the air (the weight of water vapor in the air is measured in grains...no idea why, it's above my paygrade). So, if your temp is 62, you would need to aim for a RH of 50% to have 40 grains of water vapor. Since I can't really control my temp in the basement (at least not much), if the temp rises to 68 degrees, I would need to lower the RH to 40% to maintain the same 40 grains of water vapor. Humidity is something I CAN control in the basement by using dehumidifiers. This sounds like it's technical, but the psychrometric chart basically illustrates the relationship between temp and RELATIVE humidity...which is why it's called relative since it's relative to the temp since different temperatures of air can hold different amounts of water.

For reference, your 60 degrees/60% puts the water vapor weight at approx 55 grains, so that's close to my 40-ish that works for me.

When it comes to lights, leave the lights off. There's no real need to keep them on and it can degrade the cannabinoids.

Attached are a couple of examples of how I like to dry.

        I like your approach @AGH
I'll be checking out those charts now. I was going to use my trusty VPD chart but yours sounds more on point.
        Very nice setup too.

Glad it helped! Forgot to include it, but here is the link to the chart that I was able to print: https://humiditycontrol.com/psychrometric-chart/

And I would LOVE to be able to grow outdoors, but it's the midwest and we own/operate a bed and breakfast and our guests can be VERY curious about things! Maybe one day when I grow up, I'll be able to do at least 1 outdoor grow a year!
