    A thought on decarb temps

I saw a bit on TV about variations in oven temperatures. One of those shows where they test kitchen products. Host said there can be as much as 15° (or 50°?) variation at a 350° setting.
Then I got to thinking about decarbing. Research will get you different temperatures and different times. In my experience with resin, I have noticed differences in the way it behaves, each time I decarb. That is, the bubbling or off-gassing when it's actually decarbing. Mine is an old-fashioned type 'W' heating element oven with an element on top and bottom. Decarbing in different places in my oven gets that different behavior.
Host said it's a good idea to put a couple thermometers in your oven to see what temperatures are like at different spots. You weed decarboxylators might want to give this a thought. You might not be getting the full Monty.
And who the hell want's a partial Monty?

I use a 32oz mason jar in a dedicated toaster oven out in the deer shed due to the smell. I also use two oven thermometers to make sure the temp is right. The temp setting is off by 50*f on the oven.

I know my electric range's oven runs higher, electric usually does. Plus the overshoot between heating ups. I bake every food thing for a shorter time, but decarb my medicine at a lower temp, for longer. I also bought a temp gun but haven't opened the pkg yet.

On my electric oven you can take the knob off and calibrate it.

I need to take my door apart to clean the glass, and the oven light is burned out. This range got power-surged after a derecho, when the serviceman was here he touched something and it worked right again. He told me if it messed up again to call ... it did. But both he and his sister passed away not very far apart, both were younger than me, and the generational family appliance store closed.

My built in oven is original GE Hotpoint from a Sears Catalog 1950s era home. I've had to replace the heater element once. But they are fairly easy to work on if you are so inclined. The light is probably a loose wire behind the socket.

I saw on Pintrest feed there are ways to clean that glass somehow. Mine needs it too.

I need to pull mine out as in the winter with snow on the roof you can see there is a huge heat leak whenever the oven is used. It's against two outside walls too probably with no insulation.
