How do you flip from veg to bloom? Change light time from 18/6 to 12/12 on one day, over several days, after 36 hour black out, something else?

Do you taper light below 12 hours time near the end of bloom?

24/0 during veg. Flip to 12/12 and stay.

I grow hydro, veg on 18/6 till it reaches appropriate height then change water to flower mix and change lights to 12/12.
