    Winter Grow

Decided I’m going to try a winter grow this year. It gets minus Celsius here soon so I’ve tried to prepare as best I can. New tent, insulated around it and got new heater ✔️ Not much to see at this stage but I use this my grow diary.
All beans are photoperiod - Stardawg, blue cheese, fat banana, critical, wedding cake, gorilla zkittles.
They’re under a cheap led for the time being in my mini tent as the new tent is currently packed with a few autos. I did plan on putting these into the tent during veg as it’s running 18/6, but that looks unlikely with how much room the autos are taking up. The autos will determine what size of pot these will go into but hoping to get 3 or 4 of them in 16ltr pots and possibly just run a few solo 1ltr pots as the bud I’ve had off these in the past is very good. Happy growing 🤙🏻

Glad to see your doing another grow Mike. I'm gonna be flowering this winter and heat is a concern. Did you get a space heater? If so what kind?

Thanks man. I use an oil filled heater inside the tent and I just got an electric convection heater for my grow space to try and keep that a bit warmer too. If it gets really cold I can swap them about but that usually ends with the electric heater cooking a cola or 2!

Five of the seeds are now above the ground and starting off. I broke the tap root on the dawg seed so I’ve dropped a mimosa orange punch seed instead, she’ll catch up soon.

I ended up adding in my last stardawg seed so I’ll be growing 7 total, 3 will be grown as solo pots. They’re all now in with my autos in the main tent on 18/6 schedule. Hopefully things don’t get too crowded in there..

First feeding with cal mag for al the photos. Most are starting on their 3rd node except the mimosa and dawg which are a week or so behind the rest. Hoping I can keep these small inside my mini tent for the next few weeks while my autos finish up

4 of the plants have been topped, the other 3 are lagging behind a bit, I think that’s down to the environment in my mini tent but working with what I have for now. Itching to get these into my main tent but still a couple weeks to go

Been a while since an update. Flipped them last week so should see some flowers in a couple of weeks. The gap in the tent is an auto that’s getting harvested later this week. Once it’s out I can spread these girls around a bit better and let them fill the space.

I really struggle with 60-70F temps inside. Humidity is the issue as I cannot keep it high enough when the lights are on.

Plants have all began flowering, with the exception of the wedding cake. I was intending to grow it as a solo pot but it was looking so good that I transplanted it into a 16ltr pot just before flipping. The roots were pretty pot-bound (if that’s what you call it) so it’s taking a while for them to spread out into the new pot. They’ve filled up as much of the tent as I can allow them to so now jut waiting for them to finish their stretch. I’ve not done much in the way of defoliation on these as I did this with my autos and got decent yields. This will be the last time I use 11ltr pots as they’re just too small and a pain in the ass to feed when you use ties.

Live an learn we all did this trying to out smart them growing roots. You can do this just takes abit more checkups on their wellfair but go easy on yourself photos are a game of patience they drink alot during this stage, don't rush it with the ferts.

My last two flower grows I defoliated. I found this almost stops the need for watering for a couple of weeks until they get some new leaves. I don't think I'm going to do it again.

I’ve done a handful of grows now and I’ve done it every time except the last time and the results were very good. I like to try something new each grow so see how this grows..

Update. It’s awesome to see how much they’ve grown in just a week! All plants now have buds, some looking like they’ll give a good yield. The cake is now the tallest plant in the tent so I’ll be keeping her at the back away from the light.

Update: All is good, everything starting to fatten nicely. I did cut down the mimosa as it hermied. Grow tent now had a sweet pungent aroma to it so we’re moving along nicely. This is the first grow with photos that I haven’t done any real defoliation (apart from lower leaves) so I’ve a lot more bud sites than usual but final dry yield is what it’ll come down to whether I do this again or not. I put in a new HPS bulb this week and it looks soo much brighter so hopefully the plants will appreciate that extra light that’s been lost on the last one.
