We're all hanging out too much so our grow "cycles" are synchronizing ... either that or it's the moon

Hi everyone, here's my weekly update. It's day 11 and some of my plants are displaying some weird characteristics.

2/19-transplant day, all girls were moved to 5 gal. Fabric pots. Coco/ Perlite was rinsed and hydrated with Calimagic treated water pH'd to 6. The coco mix was damp but not saturated. Each young lady was given an additional 8 ounces of the same water after the transplant was complete.

2/21 first feeding, each plant was given 16 oz. of seedling strength nutrients per the GWE feed chart, pH'd to 5.9

2/23- today the pots felt very light so I gave the girls 32 oz. each Calimagic treated water pH'd to 6

Cheese-looks good to me, seems to be working on it's 3rd node??
Ak-second set of true leaves came in with one side missing the 3rd finger on the fan, not such a big deal but it also appears that side split from the stalk early and the 3rd set is underdeveloped at this stage.

60 day wonder x 2- these appear to be either stunted or dwarfs. Very small compact plants with tight node spacing. One of the plants developed its 3 finger leaves as it's first true set. Funky looking plant without a doubt.

    Interested to hear everyone's thoughts!!!

Looking good. I agree those wonders seem to have a very unique shape, it will be very cool to see them grow out.
The plant in the second pic seems to be starting show an issue at the leaf tips, maybe some early nute burn?

Interesting collection of seedlings there Obi-Wan. I would not be overly concerned with their funkiness at this point, since they generally have a healthy look. I think that in the next week ahead, if you follow your careful feeding/watering schedule, you should then get a better understanding of any problem issues that may be occurring. I'm cheering for you and successful grows with this batch! 🐸

Today is day 20 and the plants are all looking healthy overall even after a couple were damaged by my clumsy novice fingers. Cheese is definitely the star of this show, I topped it at the 4th node on 3/26 and removed all growth from the 1st leaving me with 4 mains. AK is coming around despite losing a growth tip during an attempt to train. Both 60 day wonder plants are small but healthy, again 1 lost a growth tip while I attempted to tie it down, this same plant is displaying a touch of nutrient burn but with all other plants showing no signs I will continue to feed per the GWE schedule. They are getting 3/4 of a gallon of water every third day. pH in is 6 and out is 5.9. I've moved them into my flowering tent under the 2-200 true watt Roleadro COB, after a few days of messing with the lights I have settled on a height of 25" and a 24/0 schedule. Temp is solid at 75-77 degrees, at this point my RH spikes to 60% on watering day and slowly drops to 45% by the time the next watering day comes around.

I've found the autos to be a bit more delicate than I'm used to with photos and I've made a few snafus trying to train too. This said, it may just be that I'm trying to train earlier than I would with photos. Luckily these plants recover well.

I agree BTB, I think the plant just needed more time to develop before I put any pressure on the young growth tips. Oh well....I'm glad I started with the others so as to learn the lesson before I tried the same training on the Cheese plant.

Coming along nicely Obi! As you're discovering, there is a lot of resilience to these plants, and I think yours are starting to show that strength. 😊

Happy Thursday everyone!!!! Today is day 26, the Cheese has taken well to the topping despite me being a little rough with it. I had to put some tape on a couple stems after I slightly split the outside layer while trying to LST. Overall I think it is recovering well. The other 3 plants (AK & 2/60 day Wonder)had their main stems tied down and they seem to be responding well to it. Feeding schedule seems to be working well and pH remains 6 going in/5.9 coming out. I couldn't help but feel my tent was a little short on light so I added a 600w equivalent Viparspectra led in between to two Roleadro 400w equivalent lights, total actual draw is now in the 676w range. Tent is now running 2 degrees warmer at 79 degrees with the exhaust on its lowest setting. As the plants get bigger I am noticing that watering has less of an effect on my RH, it has no shifted down to a high of 40% and lows in the 30% range. With warmer spring air right around the corner here in MA. I will just try to ride out the cold dry air.

Looking good Obi-Wan, that cheese is really getting going. So fascinating when different strains have their growth spurts, I'm sure your wonders will push out in the coming weeks. They'll love the extra light.

Obi-Wan I grew autos all last year. They grow out really fast so the LST is the best training for them. You can topped them, and it will respond, but the plant takes a while to recover from that. You end up with a smaller plant overall. I did it myself getting greedy for more tasty buds, but those plants were considerably smaller when compared to just doing the LST.

Not trying to bum you out. They look great so far!

Here is a pic of a topped and mainlined auto...all my autos look like this...I top them all and mainline...i never see any recovery time issue...just saying...close to four ounces

Agree with Green on topping autos...just get them at a point where they are growing so strongly that they barely notice the intervention! 🌿 Managed to do a second node topping with my latest, and don't regret it a bit. 😊

I don't think I'm seeing slow recovery time with the topping? She(Cheese) has always been the healthiest, most vibrant plant of the four, that's why I chose to top her and only her. Everything I've read has stated that if you choose to top an autoflower it must be a healthy plant and the topping should be done as early as possible but no later than day 20. Even after the topping she remains the healthiest and most vibrant plant in the group, below are her on day 20 and today, day 26. She is far more advanced than any of the plants that I have LST'd. I believe the difference lies in the genetics as all other variables apply to all four plants.

                  Looks great Obi-Wan.
I think that perhaps today's autos are more amenable to topping than their predecessors. Bred to be more trainable and thus to yield more ... just speculation... Whatever the reason, I'm with the Green75 posse, no regrets topping my autos.

Day 33 of this grow and all plants are happy and healthy. Temperature and pH remain steady while RH has settled in at 35%.
