So I have a somewhat funny story for you guys. Some of you already know my current living situation but for those that don't (or those that forgot), I'll lay it out for you.
I had been renting a house I wanted to buy for the last 3.5, almost 4 years and had 5 tents going. I was just getting into the zone with my grows and things were going great and then I got the unfortunate news that the homeowner needed to sell soon. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a mortgage loan and had to try and find a place for me and my 5 dogs to live in. I live in a small town and there's not a lot to rent around here that allow pets, and no apartments want to allow that many dogs. It was a struggle to say the least, but I ended up having someone contact me and was willing to help me out. Seeing as I really had no other choice, I accepted his offer.
So I moved from a 3 bedroom house into a small RV (maybe 31' long and 7.5' wide inside) and had to drastically downsize my grow. I luckily got to harvest all the plants I had flowering, but still had 4 Grand Daddy Purples in veg. I decided I have enough room for a 2x2x4' tent and crammed all 4 GDP's in the small tent. I wasn't sure if the place I was staying was 420 friendly so I have been trying to keep everything fairly secret. Anyway, my plants ended up dead from a heat wave and lack of watering. I was trying to be stealthy when I filled up my watering can so he didn't see me taking it inside and I didn't water as much as I should have.
Last week we were getting holes dug for a fence so I don't have to worry about the dogs as much. We were on the last one and he asked me if I drink beer. I thought about it for a split second and decided that was my opportunity to find out. So I told him I was actually more of a smoker and I rarely drink any more. He responded with "me too, I actually do both." So I told him about my tent and told him I had been trying to keep it on the down low because I didn't know for sure. We both had a good laugh and then he told me he wanted to show me something. He proceeded to take me over by the chicken coop and around the back of it and low and behold, there was 3 plants blocked by some plywood to keep the dusty buds to a minimum. It's really sandy here and the wind blow quite a bit sometimes so I guess he's had problems with the buds having sand in them. If any of you outdoor growers have any suggestions for that, I would gladly pass it along to help this poor soul clean his buds. He's got them in the ground but he said he dug a big hole and filled it with ProMix. They look pretty good, I can't wait to see them in a couple months.
Needless to say, that got me wanting to get a grow going again. I decided to find my fastest autoflower and get it in a pot outside ASAP. I decided to go with an Alaskan Purple autoflower because it's only supposed to be 49-63 days and winter will be coming around that time. Yield is supposed to be between 40-200 grams per plant so we'll see. I'll be happy with whatever I get, but I'm hoping for closer to 200. Just saw the leaves barely poking out today so I guess this is day 1. Any advice on an outdoor autoflower grow? It's in my usual soil which is basically water only, but I also have my nutrients (GH Flora trio and CaliMagic) if I need them. I'll be updating this post as well.
