    Loupes are pretty good…

Trying to figure the best method of checking trichomes and I found this. Not my idea BTW.
Got a great 10x loupe off Amazon…$33…super Eastern European glass at a low price. Also tried it with a 20x but the depth/width of field was so much easier to work with on the 10x.
Took a few pics, some with zoom on before the pic, but just taking it with straight 10x and no zoom gave a bigger pic that can be zoomed after the pic and still be enough to see the trichomes pretty easily.
Easy to use with pretty good results. These pics were snapped pretty quickly, results would be better if I took more time to steady the camera.

Yep, that's my favorite method as well.

I have a microscope too, but the 10x loupe with a high-rez iPhone camera and zoom provides better results.
My goal is epicurean quality rather than high yield.
I'm learning how to create cannabis tinctures and hashish and I almost always use a vaporizer to spare my aging lungs.
Despite my avatar name I'm generally amenable and helpful. So, if there's a question I'm qualified to answer, hit me up!

        I use a lens from a 8mm projector, circa 1950 as a loupe.

It says 50mm f/2.8 coated anastigmat projection lens.

When I put it up to my S-10 I get this:

Wondering if a USB scope would do better. The pix are loosing resolution being posted on net so it is difficult to judge quality here. I know these posted have lost quality.
Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.

I used a jewelers loupe for a long time before I upgraded to a USB 250x what worked so much better that I finally upgraded to a ANNLOV 1000x battery powered microscope when I realized what I had been missing all along. I love this thing and it makes harvest timing a warm blanket of assurance. No more guessing. Easily portable, take pictures or movies on removable memory disk. About 100 bucks
