Here's the stuff I was taught when i started in landscaping, all the techniques and recommendations that I still use everyday at work. And since I started growing I found out they still apply! Who would have thunk? Not that pot growers ever borrowed traditional farmers techniques right? Anyways I thought it might be of interest to some of you. To me one of the most essential rule of thumb is that if you take out more than a third of the crown then you end up with a bunch of extra growth. Plan this part right and it should help with stretch and bud formation. The advice re aesthetic pruning doesn't apply so much here although maybe we can get a poodle shape pot pruning contest! Who's in?
