COCO COIR Benefits of Watering Soil pre-seedling?

Ive been reading about some people pre-soaking their growing medium before moving their seedlings into it. Im using Rapid rooters for my seeds, and coco coir will be their future home.. Should I presoak my water still? Other than tilling, and having not-super dry soil, I havent seen a benefit for it. I have been using 1 tsp/gallon CalMag as per the auto feeding schedule for germing seeds, thats about it.

    TIA

I'm a soil guy and have never grown in coco but I have read that coco shouldn't be allowed to completely dry. I personally never let my soil dry even between grows when it is empty. Just my opinion I don't think I answered your question but best I've got

You presoak to insure total perfusion of your nute water. It also insures that your coco is charged with cal-mag. If you don't charge with cal-mag it will cause nutrient lockout.

Presoak with 4ml calmag/gal. You presoak to ensure that your media is fully wet. Pour about a qt. at a time get the edges real good. I use GH trio and I also add 1/8 strength nutes in my rinse/soak water.
Coco has no nutrients so you must supply a small amount for your seedling to use the first few days. You won't be able to water until you are dry to around 1" deep.

Preasoaking also let's you weigh your pot while it is holding the max amount of water.
Pre weigh with just dry coco and the pot. Check soak water pH and flush the water through.
Let it finish running off and weigh again, the difference is the water weight.
Now when it feels like you should water and you're not sure just weigh and it will give you a rough guess at how much water is left.

PS. I use an old bathroom scale.
