Cursing them will help with that, but I don't know why it happens.

I only have grown outdoor, I belive they will never be rock hard buds. Because outdoors not everyday is a full sun day. How ever the buds do get big, very full of tricromes, very potent. I found the more direct sunlight the better, and got to have more water. I love my outdoor homegrown. Plant training helps me to get more big coals.
On a different note, if your buds are to fluffy to smoke, could make some edibles. I have made some super potent weed butter with sugar leaves and larfy buds.

I grow outdoor in the desert sometimes 60 days not a cloud. I believe fluffy airy buds are from heat and genetics. Most sativas will not produce tight buds outdoors unless they are very narrow buds however airy trichome thick sativa buds are wonderful. I have found Colombian will produce dense tight buds outdoors in the heat 102+. I have trouble with Indica buds too thick light does not penetrate and inside leaves look like they grew in the dark and no trichomes and soon mold.

You know I think you might benjoy right , the plast in the pics above just got dry. Turns out the tight feeling buds it had right before I hacked it down and dried, they turned pretty wispy. It's Midwest here. Very hot and humid summer months mid nintys to 100plus. As you stated genetics is everything. Guess that's why we pay for the genetics.
