Greedy bastard. Can't be a monopoly anywhere (unless he owns it, that is, then there's no problem with it)

Couldn't agree more. I am excited to see what happens in Cali. I think if Cali passed recreational the rest of the country will fall like dominoes. It happened with medical and other things before

Nooooooooo!!!!!! Do not store your weed in plastic bags. Especially using a vacuum sealer. You will crush your weed. Have you ever seen weed cling to your baggy. Think trichomes. In my opinion, there is that word again. The only way to store your weed is to cure it properly and store it in Mason jars in a dark (Trichomes hate light.) cool room. I personally have stored weed for almost two years without any ill affect.

My experience...9 months in a mason jar with correct humidity and cool, dark conditions, and my first crop smells and vapes as nicely as when it did many months ago.

Oh Kingfish, you come along and throw a monkey wrench into my plan. I value your opinion so much. Here is the thing. We will only be storing the one ounce portions that way until needed. At which point it will come out of the storage bag to be used and stored the way any one else would for the amount they are using that week/month.

I have been warned by several about over sealing so as not to crush. And if I use one of those boveda humidity packs inside each one. I promise we won't suck the living day lights out of the bag. Just a tad before sealing.

Rockman, I don't know why hubby is so paranoid about having this in the house. We've had it before, and in large quantity. Our source was from Florida and we'd buy eight ounces at a time.

Okay, so I will have a discussion with hubby and make him read this thread. Maybe he will change his mind.

I thank each and every one of you for your valuable input.

One more question, if anyone is still reading thread. Regardless of my storage container, What RH of boveda packets would I want to buy?

I don't use boveda packs. Our RH is generally in the 35-40% range and as I stated before. I can store my weed up to 2 years.

We still have to harvest, dry and cure and so I have time to give this whole situation some serious thought. Depending on our final weight, maybe try two different methods and see which we like the best.

I myself am wondering if I should use mason jars or vacuum packs to store long term (beyond 6 months). Our last harvest was larger than expected so we still have about half of it left-first time for that!.
The jars are working great with a good cure. The current harvest is also almost complete so we want to store the previous harvest for as long as reasonable. From my limited experience some of the trichomes stick to the insides of the jars and plastic seems to increase the potential for that, why I'm thinking of using jars with 58% Boveda for long term storage (the 58% packs are a new release). I'm using the 62% packs now and they seem to be perfect. We used them the first two weeks and then removed them once the humidity was constant at 60-62%, after 2 months we put the 62% packs back into the jars. But I'm concerned about getting them dry enough for long term storage.
One thing we're considering is putting the jars that are 6 months "old" directly into the freezer, but am conflicted on this because I've heard that freezing will cause the trichomes to fall off the buds if handled. But if they are in jars and dry (so the water in them won't freeze and degrade the good stuff) could you remove a jar from the freezer, let it come up to room temperature, and then open the jar without affecting the trichomes? If anyone has experience using both jars and vacuum packs...or freezing verses keeping them in a cool dry space any suggestions would be great!

Oh yeah_FYI_ Don't ever take a jar out of the freezer and open it right away because condensation will form when the cold buds are exposed to warmer and more humid air. Living in a cold climate has made this very evident whenever we come indoors during the winter. When you remove the jar from the freezer water will quickly form on the outside. Wait to open it until you can wipe it dry and no more condensation forms, then it should be safe.

I store mason jars, with 62% Boveda pack, in a cool dark cabinet. Even after long storage (6 months) buds are perfect.
