From my experience:
1) I convert the butter into ghee first before adding flower. (Better shelf life...cooks like butter)
2) Make the ghee (butter) high in THC. When baking, you can use a portion of strong canna-butter and cut it with plain butter to lower the intensity of the THC before....
3) ...make low dosage cookies.

Yes, i know, you want to make a cookie that is an absolute mind-f#ck...but wouldn’t you rather eat 4 low-dose cookies (positive food satiation) instead of just *one* high-dose cookie (no food satiation)? I make snicker-doodles and enjoy having 3 or 4 just for the satisfaction of eating/snacking. If they were super strong, I’d have to make a second batch of plain cookies to compensate. 😂

I believe recipes for gummies call for lecithin as well. Don’t need much I think it’s a teaspoon per cup of whatever you are using or a tablespoon?? Nebulas tutorial has the recommended amount. Also I think the lecithin has to be added at the point that you add the alcohol and buds. So the THC can bind something like that lol I’m faded..

Not sure if this matters or means anything but I use lecithin I think I spelled it correctly it’s sunflower lecithin, anyways it supposed to let your cannabis and oils or butter bind more so it’s more potent and this last time I made edibles they sure hit stronger and faster. So with lecithin it absorbs your materials better I believe and maybe that’s what you need???

grouchyoldman, this is an example of the equation I use to calculate milligrams of THC in my edibles. The asterisk symbol in the equation, like the x, means to multiply. Were I to ingest 700mg THC in one dose, the subsequent "greenout" from an overloaded endocannabinoid system would result in simultaneous projectile vomiting and explosive diarrhea. I speak from experience, learning by working my way down from 125mg to get to my 37mg "sweet spot."

I use this method:
THC% x mg x efficiency)/ml = mg/ml of THC
but I'm not sure how to factor in desertdan's 10 grams of hash or what efficiency results from his method. You sound like you've got this dialed in.

I'd really like to get extraction & concentration down to a replicable "science" for insomnia meds, but so far reality hasn't matched theory!

I'm pretty certain that a 700mg cookie would launch me into outer space...

Everyone is different. My starting dose is 300mg. I would like at least 500mg. cookies. 700 would be better

Using a 15% THC potency and assuming you were able to extract all of that THC in the 94 grams of material, and assuming you could make 80 cookies with that 1 lb. of butter, each cookie would contain 137mg THC. Let me say this desertdan, while everyone has a different tolerance level, I use 37 mg to knock me out (insomnia) every night and the effects last 6-10 hours. May I suggest to start low and work your way up to a whole cookie.

Yeah I just dumped it all in the butter and water. Took 3 cups water to get it all in. It was decarbed. !0 grams dry ice hash not kief my mistake. Boiled 90 minutes. I want an outer space launch with one cookie. How much weed can you add before the trichs do not dissolve in the butter.

I'm no expert desertdan, but 3oz of bud and 10gr of kief is A WHOLE LOT of canna for a pound of butter! Did you just dump all that together and boil it? Did you decarb the cannabis? How long you been cooking it?

Ohhhh i thought it was done and you already strained it threw " cheese cloth " that's what i use. I pour it threw the cheese cloth helps separate and the particals and goo i squeeze into the bowl, put plastic wrap on it and refrigerate it. Next day oily water is pressed out whilst butter compacts and sinks in the bowl. That's the stuff i thought you were talking about.

All that stuff congeals while it rests any water will rise and you pour off. That's my experience and how i do it.

Hi desertdan are you speaking of the watery oil that settles on top of butter post cooling, i've alway poured it off and wrapped up the butter waffer. Not sure why it " weeps out " ?
