Hi Delucia21
All good. Those are called bracts (I think) they are associated with female flowering. Not a hermiePast Grows: Jack 47 Auto - La Bella Afrodita - Black Cream and Cheese Autos

crucialbunny, In botanical terms, they are bracts with emerging stigma, often incorrectly identified as calyx and pistil.

It’s a calyx, nothing wrong with calling it a calyx, like 90% of people do in here

CaptainWiese91, As I mentioned, it's often misidentified. Absolutely nothing wrong calling it whatever you like. It's simply not a calyx. Just as these are not women, even though they identify as such. But you can call them women if you like. No problem.Last edited by quirk; 03-03-2021, 05:04 PM.

Collectively the sepals are called the calyx (plural calyces), the outermost whorl of parts that form a flower. The word calyx was adopted from the Latin calyx,m. Some plants retain a thorny calyx, either dried or live, as protection for the fruit or seeds.
calyx cells are one part of the perianth, a nearly transparent, delicate tissue that partially encloses the ovule (prospective seed). ... The bracts and bracteoles are small, modified leaves that enclose and protect the seed in what some growers refer to as the seed pod.
It’s not more incorrect to call them calyx than a bract. It’s absolutely the same thing. And can be called both things. And the first word for the calyx, was calyx and not bract.
