Companion planting

Just read an article on companion planting I was thinking about adding some basil any thoughts?

Never hurts? More the merrier. I've grown lots of herbs alongside my weeds.

Basil is a good choice as is cilantro. The literature on the subject says garlic and onion are good choices but my experience is only if they are in a separate container near your plant.
