Hey, so I recently read an article on seedlings which stated that you should leave your light on 24/7 until the initial leaves (not the cotyledons) have gotten about 2-3 cm long however I've also heard that people like to keep 18/6 the entire way through until they're ready to swap to flower, my question is: in YOUR opinion should I keep the lights on 24/7 for now or swap them to 18/6? Which do you think would be more beneficial for the plant and why? Also do these girls look healthy? Any help or advice is much appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Welcome @Begginersprouter, IMHO, 24/7 lights are not a good idea. Plants like all beings need a rest period. Mine are 9 weeks now, have been on 18/6 since sprouting, and are very healthy. Your seedlings look great, not leggy, so you lights must be about right level. as you planted direct in a larger pot, be careful about watering.

Thank you so much for all of the help! I thought my seedlings looked healthy as well however I posted them on a Facebook group page and got told that they're healthy, that ones dead due to disease and to get rid of it already 😂 I wasn't quite sure why they said that, a tiny bit of the cotyledons had a slightly yellow tint and due to that someone said that it's damping off and to discard it but I wasn't quite sure, thank you as well for instructing me how to do that I've been curious about that for a while!

In the past I grew autos using a 18/6 light schedule and the growth was good. On my last 2 grows I've been keeping the lights on 24 hours a day and my growth has well exceeded my expectations. Growth is amazing at 24/0. Honestly I'm pretty impressed how fast they've grown.5x5 Gorilla tent

18/6 from the start with photos is what most people and I do.
But I seen people do 24/0 with photo strains and they can handle it, no problem.
autos I would keep the lights on 24/0.Just because people are over 50 doesn’t mean they know everything.
You can teach a old dog new tricks - But it will still think the old ways are the “best” lol

I did the 24/0, 20/4 before the switch, for me I prefer 18/6 cuz like humans they need to rest.Light: Viparspectra P2000, Viparspectra P1500, Viparspectra XS2000, KingLed 1500

I was doing 18/6 but recently I switched to 24/0. Seems to be working fine so far. I have both autos and photos in coco and soil (separate, not mixed) and they all seem to like the adjustment. I thought about doing 20/4 for the extra light time but still with a little break, but decided against it this time. Not really an answer for your question but I think lighting is all personal preference and what will work for you. Happy growing!
