Hey GWE Forum,
As promised I am starting to share my grow journal today along with some pics of progress so far. I'm just now about 8 weeks from sprout and planning to switch to 12/12 in about 2 weeks.
Dec 2020
This will be my first indoor grow. After much research into current methods and the latest equipment availaqble for sale online I developed a plan to follow for this. My appreciation to Nebula Haze of Grow Weed Easy for the information on that site. Also to Robert Bergman of I Love Growing Marijuana ILGM for the seeds from Amsterdam.
I chose the Critical Mass feminized strain for this grow due to the medium high content of THC and CBD. I ordered 10 seeds for $114 and received 10 additional seeds free for a total of 20. For this first try I will start 3 to see how it goes.
I'm using a food dehydrator as a heating source with a pie tin full of water for humidity. I monitored this set up for a couple days and was able to set temp at about 80 degrees and RH at 60%.
Medium: Mother Earth Coco Coir 70% with Perlite 30% mix. I flushed the medium thoroughly with pHed water and let it drain overnight. I will plant directly into the coco mix in Solo cups.
I purchased a Bloomspect SS1000 LED light and suspended it 18 inches above the cups.
As my budjet is limited, I decided to build my own DIY grow cabinet 30x48x62 out of OSB sheathing which I had on hand from another project. I have hobby cabinet making skills. I bought mylar space blankets from Amazon and lined the inside using spray on contact cement.Note: If you try this, I recommend 2 people to stretch the mylar or you will get a lot of wrinkles. A space blanket is larger that a 4x8 sheet of material so just trim the excess after the cement dries. A few wrinkles is no big deal. I think the mylar is more reflective than the inside of a grow tent. I covered all 3 sides, the door and top and bottom.

Planted 3 seeds in 3 Solo cups. Made a hole in the coco about 3/4 inch deep and dropped the seeds in then covered with fine crushed Perlite. I plan to keep the surface damp with a spray mister and water once a day using a pipette about an inch away from the seeds in a circle.

It's a girl! First sprout. Soil temp is running a little high so I made some adjustments.
Wednesday Dec 16, 2020 10am
Second sprout. Already see tiny first true serrated leaves on first plant. Watered both with a light mix of CaliMagic and some Recharge root microbes.
Thursday Dec 17, 2020 5am
Third seed died just as it broke the surface. Damped off just below the cotyledon leaves. I think the soil was a little to dry at the temp I'm running. I dug down and removed a 1 inch long taproot. I decided to replant so I stirred the soil but this time I put the seed in a shot glass with distilled water to soak for 24 hours before I plant it. It will be a few days behind the other 2 but I doubt that will matter.

Planted 3rd seed again after a 38 hour soak in distilled water. The first 2 seem to have slowed in growth. Watered them to very moist with pH adjusted filtered tap water. Soil temp is at a constant 78 degrees. I have a small fan going to keep temo down. My grow cabinet is almost completed now and I ordered some 5 gal cloth grow bags today which should arrive by next Wednesday. I expect to transplant a week after that. I also ordered a reptile tank fogger/humidifier and a controller which arrived yesterday and as it is cold out now I will use a small ceramic heater in the cabinet which is out in my unheated sun room. I will run it for a few days to get the temp and humidity regulated before transplant to the bigger bags.

Replanted seed sprouted overnight. Exactly a week after the first 2. Happy Birthday Connie! I decided to give the girls names in order of their sprouting. Annie, Betty and Connie. Carrie damped off and died.
Today is the start of week 2 for Annie and Betty. They don't appear to be growing quite as fast as I expected and the leaves are a little on the pale side. I think they are hungry! I am mixing GWE week 1 of GH Flora Series plus CaliMagic for them. Using filtered and pHed tap water which needs to be adjusted down as it is about 7.5 to 8 from the tap.
OK, before everyone gets too bored with this, I will stop for now and continue with more later unless you are all sick of it already. I hope you enjoy my "Bud Porn", LMAO!
