    Flowering / Vegetative Switch use

    All,

I have a King Plus 600W LED which has a switch I can turn on for Vegetative, Flowering, or both.

This is my first grow and my AF Girls have been blooming for about 5 days with small buds forming.

To this point, I have lowered my light to about 22" above the canopy and have been using the light with both switches on which produce more light but I am wondering if I am doing it wrong given there is a switch dedicated for flowering so 3 questions

    1. Now that the girls are flowering, should I be using the flowering light switch only or continue to use both vegetative and flowering switches both on?

    2. I switched to a 12/12 schedule due to some of the non-AF plants in the room which also sent them into bloom. Now that both my autos and the non-autos are both blooming, should I still stick to 12/12?

    3. Does the light height of 22" seem about right for blooming?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I've never used a light with a bloom/veg switch but from my understanding most people run both most of the way through the grow. Your light schedule needs to stay on 12/12 or your photoperiod plants will revert back to veg. The 12/12 schedule is going to hurt your autoflower yields, but there's not much you can do about that. As for the light distance, I'm not sure because I don't know about that brand and model.

This is my opinion, run both veg and bloom lights for about 5 weeks and switch to only bloom after that, there is a point in which your plant in mid flower stage will stop growing and focus 100% on buds. Also depends on you growth and light and space. Im just flipped mine and am running both for now, i will run bloom once i start to see energy sucked from the leaves. As for light distance, i think you are okay at 24in but what is the true wattage? I would give autos more light and would separate them from photo flowering.

Hi guys, thanks for the reply.

I am not 100% sure on the "true wattage" but you can search on Amazon for item B0183Z7Z56. However, I attached a pic from the Amazon site that may be what you are looking for.

Also, if I seperated the Autos, what should my light schedule be since it sounds like 12 12 isnt ideal.Click image for larger version

If you separate your autoflowers, you want to give them 18+ hours of light.

Run both often times the fans only run when the vegetative lights are on and you want more watts anyways. There would be no conceivable reason with that grade of light that you wouldn't want to maximize output.

thanks everyone. I neglected to train these early on so they are christmas tree shaped and while there are buds appearing in the lower level limbs, they are stay pretty shaded. I have an extra lower poewered 75W circular LED i coludl turn on its side and point horizontal at the plants which would provide some light to the shaded areas of the plant. Good idea or do you think I will just burn them given they arent quite used to the light or maybe even be hitting the bottoms of the leaves of the ones that actually get full light? Probably a dumb questions but thought I would throw it out there for your opinion.

Have you tried just asking these same questions to the manufacturer? A good manufacturer should be able to help with answers specific to your light. I’ve never dealt with King LED so I can’t guess if they have a real customer service department or not.

No reason more light always better when dealing with this level of light.

Smokesteve, you could argue that that is a good enough answer for the poster’s third question, but not the first two.
