I have to "cut n run" any ideas?

It's looking like I will have to harvest (one small plant) a couple of days before I leave for 12 days.
I will not have anyone to oversee the drying and beginning of the curing process.
My condo stays around 30% humidity and in the mid 60's, so leaving the buds hanging will certainly over dry them.

    I know I can freeze-fresh bud for edibles/hash etc.

I may have enough time to dry- but not cure before leaving

Are there any alternates to the usual dry and cure routine?

Would placing the buds still on the stems in a paper bag and keep dark/cool work?

    Any ideas?

I had a similar issue once though i wasn't gone for 12 days (only a week) but i will share my experience. I got a couple brown paper bags, used a shredder to shred one bag into small thin strips (yes you can just use scissors but this is much faster) then put a 1-2 inch layer of said shredded paper bag at the bottom of non shredded paper bag. On top of that i put a layer of buds. Then 1-2 inches of shredded paper bag. Then layer of bud...so on. I only did a few layers of bud per paper bag as not to introduce too much moisture into the bag. It's not ideal but it worked decently. Easier with smaller harvests obviously.

Another thing i have seen is water curing. Im too new to try this method (not enough bud stockpiled to try yet) but give it a look. Link below.

How much more time would you like your plant to have if it weren't for the 12 day trip? If they are well establish and within a few weeks of harvest, I don't think they will develop root rot. Could you overwater, just plain pH correct water, right before you leave and catch the runoff in a big tray that the plant could later suck back up as soil dries out? I don't know if this is a good idea or not, just a thought.

If plant is close to harvest anyway, then the paper bag method as mentioned about sounds like a good alternative. Again give them a big drink of water day before harvest, so you are not starting out with dryish buds to begin.

      Good luck!

@insomniaczzz- The plant will be ready to harvest about 3 days before I leave-
I used this method on my last trip and it worked like a charm (8 day trip): http://forum.growweedeasy.com/forum/...ation-watering and I will be using it on 4 plants while gone-

Tersky -brown bagg'n it looks interesting and maybe I could wait until the day of departure to "cut n run".
I'm thinking keeping the stems on will provide moisture to get it through the 12 days- but just a guess.

Yes, keeping the stems attached will help to slow down the drying process.

Weed, I was gone for 10 days right after hanging with similar humidity and temps. I purposefully left buds attached to larger stems. Really helped and I was surprised to find they were "just about right". So dont worry too much.

Maybe cutting the plant at the main stem - trim and hang the entire plant (intact) would solve this.

Weed Pharma , this would most certainly be the ticket. I suspect you would have no problems as a result. Good luck !
