Should pistils be turning brown so soon

Into week 6 of light switch (4 or 5 week of flower). Should pistils be turning brown this soon? Mostly top of colas. I use CFL lights but still struggle keeping temps out of the upper 80's.

They turn even earlier, when you use LED's!

I'm only on my first grow, but the pistils started turning at least a month before the trichomes did.

Couldn't remember progression on last grow with same strain but thinned her out some yesterday. Just a little paranoid I guess. Buds need to fatten up some more like last time. Flower took 11 weeks last grow...

Haven't bothered to check trichomes yet. Thought it was way to early.

Agree with responses so far....there's still lots of time for ripening. 🌻

Ive never flowered with CFL. A couple times using hps my plants got a little to tall on me and were to close to the lights but I let it go cause there wasn't much I could do. The buds within 12 or 13" or less of the light finished twice as fast as the rest. So I cut them then just lowered the light to an acceptable height over what was left. The buds that were in the room for longer were MUCH better than the tops I cut.bThey took about another 3 weeks to a month. I know u can get a lot closer with CFls than with hps but is there a point with CFL that is to close?

From what I have gathered about 1 to 2 inches for CFL. Ran out of room last grow and buds got into lights. Burned tips and some foxtail before I just bent them over some more.

Yup. Height can be a tricky thing indoor. My first few tries I did A LOT of bending cause they grew up into the lights. Now when I do a new strain I try to give almost double what I think they would need. When ya gotta cut all the beautiful top colas off cause they are just gonna get burned up by the light it hurts. Bad :-( done it twice unfortunately

I've only used CFLS so far, and had very satisfying harvests with keeping the bulbs within an inch or so. Of course that means constantly raising my fixtures, but I happen to enjoy giving my baby this attention. 🌱

I'd agree with lots of the other responses.....Looks like your plant has at least 3 weeks to go, probably more. If you harvest within a week or so you're harvest will be less productive.... don't just look at the main colas, look at the secondary ones, a bit lower on the plants. One needs to evaluate trichomes, bud density and size and even the size of the calixes as well. I've had plants of the same strain take as much as three weeks longer than the first to mature. If I were you I'd err on the side of letting them go as long as you can so you can get a realistic view of how they will develop throughout the flowering period.
On my first grow I probably harvested a few plants too soon. 75-90% of the pistils were red but less than 5% of the trichomes had turned amber. On the second grow with the same seed I let them go almost two weeks longer and the buds grew larger, denser and the overall effect was enhanced for sure. These plants had about 20-35% amber trichomes and the calixes looked like they were ready to explode (these are the little pods that the pistils grow out of and are covered in trichomes, they are where seeds would develop if pollenated) .
From my experience shorter plants flower faster and taller ones take longer_ even from the same seed, same strain, same everything. I've also had some strains that have more red pistils than white but less developed trichomes and ones with more white pistils than red but more mature trichomes.
You just need to learn how your strain and growing environment affect the development and maturation of your buds to the point at which you want to harvest them.
Let em go and reap an awesome harvest!

Last grow of same strain took 11 weeks of flower to mature. That's why I questioned pistils turning brown so soon this time. Trichomes are still clear...
