MH gives plenty of usable spectrum for plants.

Problem is they also generate huge amount of heat which You'll have to deal with (and it has to be further away from plant, so heat won't damage it). And the "eat" a lot of current which You'll have to pay for. If that is not a problem for You then it's OK!

They will flower fine under a MH light. The main difference is going to be yields. A MH is going to give you less than an HPS light because of the spectrum, but the heat should be about the same. Hope that helps.

MH light were the standard in early indoor cannabis years, it was only within the last couple decades that the red Spectrum was introduced for flower. MH will flower shorter plants with tighter internode's and has been shown to increase resin production, far blue (uva/uvb) are just as beneficial as far red, some peeps run metal halide into the third week of flower to help create a shorter plant and some peeps actually use it as a finisher for the last 2 weeks for increased resin production.

not a hotter bulb, no increase in power consumption unless you go up to more watts then you used before.

One will need more watts to achieve same amount of light. And if more power is used more heat will have to be dealt with. I, for instance, do not care much about how much power I use on growing, so If I'd be in OP's place, I'd put up as much MH as I am able to cool down. (or as much as plant is able to use).

Although MH are better than regular incandescent, they emit more heat than light still.

MH get some t5's for starting seeds/clone's and 4 vegging use the led tubes ...... as far as flowering HPS is KING still now if u have $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and only upper end led's will match the HPS and also u will have the heat problem and power eaters ....... the first 2 r under t5's and the last 2 r under 400 watt HPS heat minimum
